In the Southern California recruiting landscape, many of the top 2021 prospects have pledged to Division I programs as the CIF Southern Section has decided to delay its season until March 12th at the earliest. With the altered season, rising seniors have even less time to be evaluated live by college coaches and we wanted to highlight some of the best available prospects in SoCal.
Alex Archer Alex Archer 6'4" | CG Cerritos | 2021 State CA-S , Cerritos – We like what Archer brings to the table as a game-managing point guard due to his high level decision-making and ability to control pace and tempo throughout the game. The 6-foot-4 senior has an intriguing frame that needs to add some strength and is a smooth, crafty athlete who needs to become a bit more explosive.
Adam Hinton Adam Hinton 6'5" | SG Phillips Exeter Academy | 2022 New E , Harvard-Westlake – Hinton is the ultimate glue guy type of prospect whose activity and energy on both ends of the floor make him a guy coaches can rely on. Hinton has a strong frame at 6-feet-4 and is a good athlete in space. He can rise up, absorb contact, and finish around the basket, but is also a capable catch-and-shoot three-point threat.
Nico Meza Nico Meza 6'4" | SF Foothills Christian | 2021 State CA-S , Foothills Christian – Meza has big time wing scoring potential. The 6-foot-4 forward can create shots for himself off the bounce and is a consistent three-point shooter off the catch. In transition, Meza uses his length to his advantage glide past defenders and extend to the basket for paint finishes.
Darvelle Wyatt Darvelle Wyatt 6'4" | PF Etiwanda | 2021 State CA-S , Etiwanda – If we’re able to get back to high school basketball action this spring, Wyatt’s role with Etiwanda will be an interesting one. The 6-foot-4 forward came off the bench last season, providing great minutes as an offensive and defensive rebounder who can finish through contact around the basket. Wyatt is in an odd place as far as position goes with him playing the 4 or 5 spot with his high school team while standing around 6-feet-4. There’s no question that Wyatt’s toughness and physicality are redeeming qualities at every level.
