Prep Hoops highlighted several of the top 17U posts at the Midwest Grind Session, including Daniel Ferrer, Grant Ramsey, [player_tooltip player_id="889466" first="Charles" last="Snyder"], Joshua Symonette, [player_tooltip player_id="889468" first="Myles" last="Thompson"], and Cade Wilson.

But with such a plethora of great posts at the tournament at Bel Aire, the Kansas big men deserve a second look.

Here are a handful of top Kansas posts to compete in the 17U Division of the Midwest Grind Session (in alphabetical order and with club and high school listed):

Garrett Athon, Kansas Hoggs, Jefferson West:

The 6-foot-4 Athon has a sturdy build and long arms. He proved last year he to be a capable supporting actor to some senior stars. Now he’s prepping for the spotlight next season. He works hard, going after every rebound and muscling for position in the lane. He has good hands and good post moves.

[player_tooltip player_id="889482" first="Nick" last="Hogan"], TBB Gaddis, Eisenhower:

Similar to Athon, Hogan has the 6-foot-5 frame and powerful build to be a force in the lane. He is a strong rebounder and space eater when he gets on the block. He runs well for his size and battles to make his presence felt.

Dayton Logan, SSA White, Mission Valley:

The honorable mention 2A performer uses his powerful build to dominate smaller opponents. At 6-foot-5, he can see over the defense to find open teammates. He’s not just a road-grater in the lane. He floats around the perimeter, not hesitant to shoot from beyond the arc or to face the basket with the ball in his hands. On defense, he’s quicker than you would expect and plays a harassing style.

Layne Mayeske, 365 Hoops Elite, Fredonia:

The 6-foot-3 Mayeske is anything but a traditional post. He can handle the ball and guard in the open floor, has good hops and isn’t afraid to drive and kick the ball out. But his size makes him capable of playing just about anywhere on the floor. He knocked down free throws in pressure situations in the Midwest Grind Session.

Arden Rex, TBB Hays, Garden Plain:

Rex is agile and athletic for a 6-foot-4 man. He can catch and score in the lane, posts up well and is a strong rebounder. He’s a heady big, tipping rebounds he can corral to teammates. He’s unselfish and excels at the dirty work.
