Join us as we breakdown some game film from events and take a look at some teams and prospects in the state. Today, we are looking at Men of the Family 2021 from the Legacy Court Open Run.
David Lloyd David Lloyd 6'4" | SF Indianapolis North Central | 2022 State IN – #2 6’3 SG 2022 – Noblesville (IN)
Lloyd a bigger shooting guard that is strong and athletic. Just a real bruising player that drives well and can grab a ton of rebounds. Sneakily athletic too. Right now he looks to be sticking to the drive but if he can add some shooting to his game, his upside will be huge. He should break out sooner rather than later.
Simon Jacob Simon Jacob 6'3" | SF Forest Park | 2021 State IN – #3 6’4 SG 2021 – Forest Park (IN)
Jacob is a guard with a strong frame on him. Not going to give you a ton of offense but is going to do all the necessary hustle plays. Probably best as a defender and has the ability to steal the ball at times. Strong and smart that should have a solid senior year of high school ball.
Daniel Harris Daniel Harris 6'0" | PG Muncie Central | 2023 IN – #5 6’2 PG 2023 – Muncie Central (IN)
Harris is a fast lead guard that was playing up a few grades here. Pretty good handles and sees the floor well. He was a little wild at times and looked to be a little overwhelmed. Needs to just settle down and play his game. Harris has got some talent in him and should be a really good prospect in couple of years.
E.J. Smith E.J. Smith 6'1" | PG Noblesville | 2022 State IN – #13 6’0 PG 2022 – Noblesville (IN)
Smith is smaller guard that is fast and smooth. Good ball handler and has some solid IQ. When he has his chances he could be the type of player to really light it up. Had a couple of weak passes and turnovers but that should not be long term concern. There is a ton of talent in Smith and should breakout very soon.
Kobe Ward – #14 6’2 SG 2021 – Danville (IN)
Ward is a taller shooting guard that can really score the ball. Quick and a real nice jumper to him. Best play he did was his step-back two from the baseline. Solid rebounder as well and can also play some defense. From watching Ward, I often wondered why this player was not getting more looks from colleges. Could argue he is in that top tier of overlooked prospects in the state.
Tanner Royer – #15 6’4 SF 2021 – Central Christian (IN)
Royer is a tall wing that is pretty smart. Not going to force anything crazy and is the type of player to do his job. Pretty good defender and caused some problems on that end. Solid shooter off the catch. Likes to drive and draw contact and get on the line. Solid player overall and could have a breakout year coming up.
Bryce Williams Bryce Williams 6'1" | PG Fishers | 2022 State IN – #22 6’1 PG 2022 – Fishers (IN)
Williams is a bigger guard that is more of a combo guard at the moment. Ton of quickness and sees the court well. Had a steal on the defense. Jumper was a little off but made up for it with his dishing ability. Williams is a smart player that has some breakout ability.
Caleb Swearigen – #23 6’4 SG 2021 – Northview (IN)
Swearigen is a tall shooting guard that has a good amount of smoothness to his game. He was a little out of control at first but as the day went on he started to show his scoring ability. Does a good job with both driving and shooting. Has some good hesitation with the ball and does a good job with following his shot. He is the type of player that can give a team a good amount of scoring options.
Adam Lester – #31 6’2 SG 2022 – Greenfield-Central (IN)
Lester is a quick guard that dishes the ball well. Did not show what his jumper could be but did drive well and has a nice floater. Solid defender and has the ability to steal ball if the offense is not careful. Needs to focus on adding some more size these next couple of years. Lester could have some upside to him.
Grant Jones Grant Jones 6'4" | SF Muncie Burris School | 2021 State IN – #33 6’4 SF 2021 – Muncie Burris (IN)
Jones is a stretch forward with some athleticism. Type of player that can switch between the post and wing. Plays with some toughness and is good with posting up. Rebounds pretty well. Would like to see a bit more of his jumper but right now he is as solid as they come.
Elijah Mattingley – #44 6’5 SF/PF 2022 – Central Christian (IN)
Mattingley is a tall and lanky forward. Real thin frame so adding muscle could help take his game to the next level. Solid on the pick and roll. Defense was a little weak in the post but getting stronger could help that. Tries to shoot it from the outside too much and its just was not there for him. Mattingley is intriguing because you do not really know if he is a wing or post prospect. Needs to figure some things out but his size alone could help with his potential.
