Continue ReadingIn an effort to provide new and unique ways to cover prospects, we thought it would be important to give some coverage to those that might not always get it. To do that, we will be digging deep into each conference in the state.
We will be breaking down each conference starting with the Class of 2021 first to show college coaches who they need to be placing a value on heading into the year.
We will continue to go through each conference to try and hit as many players as possible with the hopes of helping these seniors-to-be catch the attention of prospective college coaches.
Davion Wilson – Woodward Academy
A big junior season for Woodward Academy’s Davion Wilson should give him plenty of confidence heading into this year.
Wilson scored 415 points, averaging over 18 per night while also dishing out 139 points and grabbing 119 rebounds. He added 67 steals and even blocked seven shots.
The Knights relied on Wilson, who shot almost 45 percent from the field and made 19 three-pointers. An improvement in his free throw and long-range shooting will make him even more dangerous on the court.
TJ Harkins TJ Harkins 6'0" | SG Earlham | 2021 State IA – Earlham
Earlham had some struggles last year, but will hope the return of leading scorer TJ Harkins TJ Harkins 6'0" | SG Earlham | 2021 State IA leads them to more successes this winter.
Harkins averaged 14 points per game, shooting 37 percent from both the field and three-point line. He also buried 73 percent of his free throws, helping him score 313 points.
Harkins also added 95 rebounds, 49 steals and 41 assists.
Mason Lobeck Mason Lobeck 6'3" | PF Madrid | 2021 State IA – Madrid
Madrid’s Mason Lobeck Mason Lobeck 6'3" | PF Madrid | 2021 State IA was a force on the glass as a junior, racking up 172 rebounds with 63 of those coming on the offensive glass.
Lobeck scored 298 points for the Tigers, adding 20 assists, 20 steals and 16 blocks. He was a 74 percent shooter from the field and also converted almost 56 percent of his 104 free throw attempts.
Ben Loverude Ben Loverude 6'6" | PF Dmc | 2021 State IA – Des Moines Christian
A nice regular season was ended early in substate for Des Moines Christian, as they finished 17-6 overall.
While leading scorer Curran Ingram Curran Ingram 6'2" | SG Des Moines Christian | 2020 State IA has graduated, the Lions return Ben Loverude Ben Loverude 6'6" | PF Dmc | 2021 State IA , who scored 263 points while also leading the team with 47 assists.
Loverude also had 69 rebounds, 29 steals and 12 blocks, sinking a team-high 41 three-pointers. He shot 47 percent from the field and 39 percent from the three-point line.
Zach Rizzuti Zach Rizzuti 6'2" | CG Panorama | 2021 State IA – Panorama
Panorama’s Zach Rizzuti Zach Rizzuti 6'2" | CG Panorama | 2021 State IA had a fine junior campaign for the Panthers, racking up 262 points with 120 rebounds, 51 assists and 26 steals.
Rizzuti shot over 38 percent from the field and 44 percent from the three-point line, burying 45 triples to finish second on the team. He also made almost 86 percent of his 64 free throw attempts.
