Game Film Breakdown: Legacy Court Open Run

Finally, after a long and miserable few months away from high school boys basketball in the state of Indiana, AAU has gotten underway. Join us as we breakdown some game film from events and take a look at some teams and prospects in the state. Today, we are looking at Grand Park Premier 2021 Red from the Legacy Court Open Run.

Justin Dobbins – #21 6’6 PF 2021 – Indianapolis Pike (IN)

Dobbins is a big, long forward that has a motor and size to play with. He played so tough and physical at the rim while still being able to step out and stretch a bit. Loves to make contact first and isn’t super creative but just effective in the low post. Can stretch out and be force on the wing with some more work. Interesting upside that could prove once he enters college.

[player_tooltip player_id="874142" first="Jalen" last="Clark"] – #2 5’11 PG 2021 – North Central (IN)

Jalen is a long, rangy guard who can play on the ball and provide a little 3-and-D ability. He’s pretty good with his overall speed and creativity in the lane. Offense-wise, he’s more built around his shooting touch from deep rather than a half-court dribble-drive game. Open floor doesn’t seem like a problem for him as his speed helps. Needs to bulk up the frame but should be able to do that pretty quickly.

Kaden Beatty – #3 5’10 PG 2021 – Lawrence North (IN)

Beatty is a smaller guard but is pretty fast. Real good defender, stays low and hardly ever leaves his assignment. Type of player that can really push the tempo in a blink of an eye. When he has the chance to play fast, it is at his advantage because defenders have a hard time keeping up with him. Could see a breakout year coming for Beatty.

Noah Gordon – #4 6’5 PF 2021 – Indianapolis Pike (IN)

Gordon is a big and bruising power forward. Very tough in the post on both ends. Defends the post well and has excellent shot blocking ability. Showed he has some ball handling skills as he took the ball down the floor a few times. Posts up pretty well and is good about drawing contact. Lot of potential in Gordon.

Joe Bobilya – #5 5’11 PG 2021 –Guerin Catholic (IN)

Bobilya is small lead guard that plays like a true point guard. Pass first mentality and sets his teammates for scores pretty well. His jumper is a little flat but he is better at driving than shooting. Pretty quick and can make a defender off balance. Bobilya is a solid prospect.

[player_tooltip player_id="874186" first="Benny" last="Ogayonne"] – #10 6’3 SF 2021 – Franklin Central (IN)

Benny is a tall guard with some length and can switch between a guard or forward. Good amount of athleticism and has some bounce. He is a good shooter with a quick release. Looks to have added a little bit of size in his upper body. Could end up being a lights out shooter at the next level.

[player_tooltip player_id="874155" first="Austin" last="Ezell"] – #11 5’11 PG 2021 – Brebeuf Jesuit (IN)

Ezell is a tall lead guard that has a nice scoring mentality. Had a few 3's on the day and does a good job with having his hands ready to shoot the ball. Tough on the drive and handles the ball well. Lock-down defender as well. Going to be a type of player that provides a lot of options at the next level.

Lane Lanebaugh – #23 6’6 PF 2021 – South Decatur (IN)

Lane is a big, strong forward who has some versatility and scoring. He’s got good size at 6’6 that allowed him to matchup well with taller post players and enough strength to win some of those matchups. Mobile but not super athletic. Can come out and close on shooters a bit and could improve quickly once in a college program. Good shooter who has range and a quick release. Showed he can shoot off the catch and dribble to create space. Looks like a 3/4 combo depending upon the school and the level.

[player_tooltip player_id="874178" first="Mike" last="Elliott Jr."] – #20 6’2 SG 2021 – North Central (IN)

Mike is a big guard who really relies and excels when looking to shoot. Did still show he can drive just enough into the lane to possibly be a weapon down the road. Smooth, high release who can flip around and defend bigger wings because of his strength. Will be interesting to see how he changes over the next year and if he can quickly develop off the bounce more and expand his game. Would really send his development into overdrive.
