For the second straight weekend, AAU basketball was played in Dallas. After a great first weekend with the Dallas Showtyme Classic, it was Great American Shootout’s turn to host a tournament at the Duncanville Fieldhouse. This tournament featured countless talented teams and I had the opportunity to take in the action on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

[player_tooltip player_id="779864" first="Imo" last="Essien"] - Texas Impact 4:13 - G

Essien has a high basketball I.Q. and takes care of the ball. He throws great outlet passes and always finds open teammates in transition. Essien excels at getting to the paint and finding open shooters on the perimeter.

Jahsire Sheriff - SW Elite - G

Sheriff has good vision and gets his teammates involved. He has a nice no-look pass that he uses in transition that got his team multiple open layups. Sheriff is extremely hard to guard on the offensive end and has a high ceiling.

[player_tooltip player_id="1007248" first="Abdul" last="Beyah"] - Seawolves - G

The Seawolves’ offense ran through Beyah and he gets all of his teammates involved. He has good vision and knows when to pass and when to go score. Beyah is good at feeding the post and floating the pass right over the defender.

[player_tooltip player_id="1006669" first="Kevin" last="Rankin"] - Strength N Motion - G

Rankin has a great feel for the game and takes what the defense gives him. He always has his head up and he hits his teammates in places that they can score. Rankin is an all-around point guard that his team rallies around on the offensive end.

[player_tooltip player_id="959056" first="Cameron" last="Taylor"] - Texas Legion Elite - F

Taylor is a point forward that makes smart passes. Although he typically wasn’t the one bringing the ball up for his team, when he did he exposed slower players guarding him and always seemed to find an open teammate. He never refrains from making an extra pass and showed off his ability to throw accurate outlet passes.
