As we approach July, live evaluations periods are still up in the air. Best case scenario is there will be a couple in August and September, but with the rise of COVID-19 numbers in other states, it makes it that much harder to imagine it happening. The recruiting news continues and I’ll break it down as I do every Thursday here on the recruiting report.

COMMITMENTS

2020 New Era point guard Jamal Cannady will attend Bryn Athyn. A good get for newly named head coach Sean Westerlund who has Maryland ties, Cannady will provide toughness and scoring for the backcourt. Expect Bryn Athyn to be involved with many Division III prospects in the Maryland/DC area going forward.

OFFERS

2021 DeMatha guard [player_tooltip player_id="902004" first="Jordan" last="Hawkins"] received an offer from Georgia. They account for his 14th total offer and his 2nd from the SEC. After seeing Hawkins recently in action, I’d expect more SEC schools to jump on the bandwagon while they can. The 6-foot-5 long range specialist is developing rapidly and has a pro’s approach to the game.

2021 Bishop Walsh lead guard [player_tooltip player_id="531258" first="Jalen" last="Miller"] picked up offers from Oral Roberts and Rhode Island. Many programs are getting exposed to Miller’s film from his junior season and following up with offers. A 6-foot-2 guard, Miller can facilitate, score from all three levels and defend with grit.

2021 McDonogh guard/wing [player_tooltip player_id="775326" first="Jared" last="Billups"] was offered by Siena. Billups should see an uptick in his recruitment in the coming weeks as many college staffs are impressed by his versatility at 6-foot-6. He now boasts 10 total offers.

2021 West Nottingham Academy forward [player_tooltip player_id="902009" first="Jedy" last="Cordilia"] was offered by the Hofstra staff on a zoom call yesterday, his head coach told me. Cordilia is a 6-foot-9 forward with length who can score around the rim. He still needs development in a few areas, but could be a guy who becomes a nightmare to opposing teams by the time he’s a junior or senior. Cordilia also holds offers from Howard, Mount St. Mary’s and Stony Brook.

2022 DeMatha guard [player_tooltip player_id="904621" first="Rodney" last="Rice"] received an offer from Miami. The Canes join 19 other programs who have offered the 6-foot-4 scoring guard, including three others from the ACC.

2022 Archbishop Spalding wing Cam Whitmore received an offer from Loyola (MD). The Hounds are Whitmore’s 9th offers since June 15. Whitmore is another beneficiary of programs seeing impressive film from the 2019-20 season and as a result, it has generated plenty of offers.

2022 Glenelg Country wing [player_tooltip player_id="904620" first="Noah" last="Batchelor"] picked up an offer from Penn State. The Nittany Lions have had respectable impact recruiting from the DMV area and will now put the 6-foot-7 shooter on their radar. Batchelor now holds 12 total offers.

Our top ranked prospect in the 2022 MD/DC player rankings, Wilson’s Darren Buchannan Jr., received an offer from North Texas. The 6-foot-5 wing/guard recently was offered by Seton Hall and after seeing him play last weekend, more programs should reach out. He’s an athletic, strong and versatile 15-year-old who has a high ceiling.
