The 2021 class is filled with talented guards and wings, but it also has a good crop of power forwards. Here are the top power forwards in the 2021 class.
Ta’Quan Woodley Ta’Quan Woodley 6'7" | PF Camden | 2021 State #221 Nation NJ , 6’6 Camden
The Panthers were a dominant force all season long and Woodley was a big reason why. The Penn State commit is a rugged interior prospect who works hard on both ends of the floor. Woodley is one of the top rebounders and shot-blockers in the class due to his motor, athleticism and timing. He has a nice touch around the basket and can finish above the rim. Camden has to replace Kentucky commit Lance Ware Lance Ware 6'9" | PF Camden | 2020 #42 Nation NJ , but Woodley has the talent, athleticism and motor to have a huge 2020-21 season.
Samson Johnson Samson Johnson 6'10" | PF Patrick School | 2021 State #145 Nation NJ , 6’9 Patrick School
The Celtics are consistently one of the top teams in New Jersey year in and year out, and 2020-21 should be no exception. UConn commit Adama Sanogo Adama Sanogo 6'9" | PF Patrick School | 2020 NJ will need to be replaced down low, but Johnson is more than capable of doing that. He is a classic stretch-4 with range that extends past the three-point line and plays with good footwork down low. Johnson’s combination of length and athleticism makes him one of the top shot-blockers in the 2021 class. The Patrick School will be one of the teams to beat next season with Johnson getting more opportunities on offense.
Rafael Castro Rafael Castro 6'9" | PF Dover | 2021 State #157 Nation NJ , 6’9 Dover
Castro was a force all season long for Dover, which spring boarded to into 13 DI offers. The 6’9 forward can handle the ball on the perimeter and has a good face-up game. Castro can finish through traffic and he has a good touch down low. He is a big-time rebounder and shot-blocker as he finished in the top five in the state in both categories. Dover was upset in the North Jersey 1 Group 3 tournament and Castro is looking to take the Tigers deeper in the state playoffs in 2020-21.
Christian Tomasco Christian Tomasco 6'9" | PF Archbishop Ryan | 2021 State PA , 6’9 Bishop Eustace
Woodley is not the only big-time power forward in the Olympic Conference as Tomasco is one of the more skilled forwards in the 2021 class. The 6’9 forward runs the floor as well as any post player in the class and knows how to finish in transition. Tomasco has a nice touch around the basket and can make shots through traffic. He can swat shots around the rim and is a good post defender. Tomasco has the opportunity to shine in his senior season for Bishop Eustace, despite playing in the tough Olympic National Division.
DiAri Duncan DiAri Duncan 6'8" | PF Bergen Catholic | 2021 State NJ , 6’8 Bergen Catholic
Notre Dame commit Matt Zona Matt Zona 6'9" | PF Bergen Catholic | 2020 State #200 Nation NJ was a rock for the Crusaders over the past two seasons and he will be sorely missed down low. Duncan may not possess Zona’s perimeter shooting, but his rugged style should benefit Bergen Catholic in 2020-21. The 6’8 forward works hard on the glass and is unafraid to mix it up down low. Duncan has a nice touch around the basket and moves his feet well in the post. Bergen Catholic needs Duncan to establish himself as the go-to big man down low if the Crusaders want to win their third consecutive Non-Public A North title.
