One of the familiar faces on the elite camp circuit this fall has been [player_tooltip player_id='2132794' first='Logan' last='Baertsch Kovalchick']. The all-around 6-foot-3 guard from Lakeridge has been one of the top participants at every spot he's been at and he's been catching the eyes of college coaches. This has continued what's been a strong off-season, one in which he started off playing club basketball and the goal is for all the work to pay off with more opportunities to play at the next level.

"I think it went really successfully," Baertsch Kovalchick said of his AAU season. "There was a lot of games I thought I got a decent amount of exposure and I played well. What really went well was the guys on my team, I'm really tight with them. It was a good, happy season. It made the love of the game for basketball really strong for me - that's the goal."

Baertsch Kovalchick played with Elite 24's travel squad and felt some of his improvement goals this off-season were met. "A lot of it for me was definitely shooting and learning to play make and make open shots for my teammates as well as for myself," Baertsch Kovalchick said. "Definitely just getting faster, stronger - mainly I'm just trying to gain weight, get stronger, be more physical, that's my main goal."

As noted, Baertsch Kovalchick has been busy on the camp scene, basically taking every opportunity to get in front of college coaches and show not only what he can do and offer to their programs, but what they can provide him too.

"I'm just going to these camps and trying to get more exposure and see what everyone has to offer me," Baertsch Kovalchick said. "Personally for me, I'm looking for academics because I'm trying to set myself up for, obviously, my future, but also finding the right team to play for. I want to have this enjoyment of playing basketball as well. I'm open to everything but I do get homesick a lot, so I don't know about anything like the East Coast or anything like that."

As the camp tour contines, Baertsch Kovalchick is also honed in on the upcoming season - one in which he and his Pacers teammates have a mission to finish out their high school careers at the pinnacle. "One of the goals that we've had for a couple years as varsity is just making it to the Chiles Center," Baertsch Kovalchick said. "That's the big one for us - it's kind of like on the calendar. We need to get ready for that, but it's just like every step to be able to get to that."
