While he remained somewhat hidden outside of Central Oregon last season, the 6-foot-2 Summit guard is ready to really turn some heads his senior season.
"I had a lot of talented teammates and we played good competition," Junkin said. "For me personally, my three-point shot improved for sure. and I got that more consistent as well as handling the ball. So overall it was successful and enjoyable as well."

A high-academic student, Junkin has been looking to parlay his improvement and his grades together to find the right fit at the college level. As a result, he's been looking at a number of high-level D-III programs. In the summer he picked up a roster spot offer from Willamette and at their elite camp, he dazzled with his high-flying antics around the rim and his overall strength and athleticism in the backcourt. He recently added another roster spot offer from Puget Sound and has also been in regular contact with Oberlin, Lewis and Clark, and Chapman. He's taking everything in with his recruitment.

"I feel like I'm balanced with school and basketball," Junkin said. "Obviously, I want to major in biology, so I need that balance between the two. (With basketball) I'm looking for competitiveness, for sure - I want coaches who push me and teammates, too. That's a good fit for me."

Junkin will continue to catch eyes this upcoming season, one in which Summit did lose a lot of senior production but does bring a lot back. "A state (tournanement) trip is an expectation," Junkin said. "We have a good squad coming back with Andy (Bledsoe), Owen (Hill), Colin McMullen so a state trip, that's our expectation. For me, just to play to my potential. I feel like if I do, I can be an all-state player, a conference player. I'm excited to see how it all turns out."
