Perry Meridian Falcons | LG’s Open Gym Notes

Back on the road for another Open Gym Notes. Made the trip to see the Perry Meridian Falcons under first year Head Coach Mike Burris. The Falcons are coming off a 6-16 season from a year ago, but Coach Burris has the program anticipating an improvement with talent across all grade levels. Here are LG's Notes from Open Gym this afternoon at Perry Meridian:

Returners

First time getting to see the intriguing Junior Point Guard for the Falcons, and absolutely love the pace and physicality he plays with. Lightning quick guard that gets to his spots in isolation plays while also comfortable playing in a crowd. Really patient in the pick and roll reading the defense and making good decisions. Will be a big time contributor that will control the pace of play this season and be a leader on the floor.

High potential Sophomore Wing that will make a huge jump for the Falcons this season. [player_tooltip player_id='3596867' first='Riley' last='New'] is a 6'3” long and athletic wing that I got to see early in the spring, but love the trajectory that he is on. Noticeably stronger and more explosive, he's a physical wing that thrives at the rim, while being a a consistent, on balance three-point shooter. Will have a big sophomore season for the Falcons this season.

Leading scorer from a season ago that is a high motor wing primed for an even bigger season. [player_tooltip player_id='2560372' first='Jaden' last='Porter'] is a relentless downhill driver that welcomes contact and finishes at a high level. Plays with a physicality and high basketball IQ. Improving three-point shooter that's capable off the catch. Crucial piece for the Falcons success this season.

High potential Senior Wing that appeared in three games last season, but will play a huge impact for the Falcons on both ends of the floor. High energy wing that can get out on the break and be a play finisher. Capable three-point shooter, but best getting downhill. Long and lanky defender that can guard multiple positions. Will be looked upon as a leader and and an energy guy in his senior season.

Newcomers

High Energy Forward that has good size, length, and athleticism that could be impact games in the paint on both sides of the ball. [player_tooltip player_id='3793690' first='Bryson' last='Brown'] is a rim running big that can rebound it well while also being an active rim protector. Will provide size and depth off the bench this season for the Falcons.

Another high potential piece in the Falcons Sophomore Class that will be an integral part of the success this season. [player_tooltip player_id='3793692' first='Tray' last='Clay'] is a quick twitched guard that pushes the tempo in transition and plays with high energy. Comfortable playing in the pick and roll and turns the corner aggressively while making good decisions. Capable shooter from three, but is best off the dribble and creating for others.

6'2” Senior Forward that will be an integral piece off the bench as a floor spacer. Big framed forward that plays really hard. Will be relied to off the bench to rebound and knock down open threes.

First time seeing 2029 Guard [player_tooltip player_id='2468725' first='Isaiah' last='Moore'] and he was arguably the best shooter in the gym with unlimited range and supreme confidence. Comfortable playing on and off the ball, he plays with poise and has a knack for getting to his spots. Has the family genes and the game to be an impactful player in the very near future.

Intriguing Sophomore Guard that will be a steady presence for Perry Meridian this season. Smooth guard that is a jack of all trades. Unorthodox game off the dribble with a craftiness in his handle and moves to the basket. Confident shooter off the catch that's always on balance. Unselfish teammate that makes the extra pass and communicates well.

Potential starter this season for the Falcons is a smooth left handed guard that can push the tempo and get others involved. Really good shooter off the catch with a pure stroke. Puts a ton of pressure on the rim and has great court vision. Will have an impactful junior season.
