Saturday, October 17th I attended the 1st annual Dillon Brooks Invitational at Inspire Courts in Gilbert, AZ. Many AIA teams were in the building plus some local top prep teams mixed in with Grind Session teams from out of town. I ended up watching nearly 25 teams.

Under the Radar

[player_tooltip player_id='2276245' first='Nizir' last='Cannady'] AZ Compass Prep EYBL

A pure point guard is their EYBL team's backup PG. He guides the team when he comes in and just makes the correct reads over and over. He has next level speed and a tighter handle to take on the heavy ball pressure and spray it around to teammates. He will score with threes, dribble drives and is tough on the ball defensively.

[player_tooltip player_id='2674801' first='Michael' last='Crawford'] Bradshaw Mountain (Pictured)

A strong and stocky framed real point guard with a very high feel for the game. He will score it easily but his timing with passes with a live dribble is next level stuff. He sees plays developing quickly and throws the rope. He will score it with threes off the catch, mid-range jumpers off the dribble and quick drives. It is his team this season.

[player_tooltip player_id='2143671' first='Ashton' last='Musser'] Deer Valley

The big man in the middle is finally healthy and looking good. He is moving a little quicker and his mobility is improving from end to end. He rebounds well in his area and will block shots plus score. He will fill it up with euro steps and smartly cut to the basket with his soft hands.

[player_tooltip player_id='2683087' first='Chris' last='Monroe'] Willow Canyon

Another talented player on the Wildcats deep roster is Monroe. A decent sized scoring guard has a smooth jumper he uses from mid-range and he can hit the three. He also moves well in space to defend point guards and bigger guards with his length and lateral quickness.

[player_tooltip player_id='2681054' first='Jude' last='Rose'] Mesa Mountain View

An undersized scoring point guard is skilled, quick and tough. He can make players around him better with smartly moving the ball but he is wired to score. He will drive it to the basket with a mini burst of speed, pull-up from mid-range and hit the three.

[player_tooltip player_id='3493692' first='Kellan' last='Walz'] San Tan Charter

The big man for the star-studded small school team is Walz. He comes in off the bench and immediately provides a scoring punch with his soft hands, plus footwork, skill from mid to the three point line and he works well inside the paint with any contact using his frame.

[player_tooltip player_id='3190044' first='Anthony' last='Washington'] Deer Valley

Like Willow, Deer Valley has a ton of quality depth, Washington is definitely one of those players. He actually may start in the beginning of the season while they wait to get their transfers eligible. The guard can play on or off the ball and he will move the ball and also score. He can hit the three off the catch and he is athletic to get to the basket.
