Wisconsin Sophomore ID Camp: Team 12 Evaluation

Zenke impressed me, not only as a true three-level scorer but as one of the stronger post players that I watched at The Sophomore ID Camp. Showing great footwork, Zenke dazzled with a plethora of nice moves including turnarounds, spin moves, and baby hooks. On the perimeter, Zenke showed good handles on one occasion weaving through traffic to get to the rim and, another time down the floor, making the defense pay, knocking down a 20 footer from the top of the key.     Bonk did not get too many offensive opportunities but made the most of the ones he got mostly on the offensive glass and out ahead of the fast break. The part of Bonk's game, that stood out the most, was his defense. A very pesky defender, Bonk did a great job of staying tight on his man with good lateral quickness.     I liked the all-around game that I saw from Monson and it is easy to see why he averaged 13.6 points per game for New Richmond. One of the more active players, Monson moves well, without the ball, crashes the boards on both ends, and is a great shooter on one play knocking down a nice catch-and-shoot three while falling down. Defensively he moves his feet well and knows how to play winning basketball.     Uelmen was impressive as one of the more dynamic offensive players, that I watched, at the Sophomore ID Camp. Utilizing great handles, Uelmen had no problem weaving through traffic with the strength to handle physicality in the paint. Dynamic mid-range player exemplified by a nice 1-leg turnaround fade over a taller defender and a couple of pretty dribble, step-back three-pointers.     Athletic, long, and with room to add size, Garcia flashed hints of a rapidly developing skillset showing a nice outside touch and a very quick release. Showing good court awareness, Garcia was always looking to make the correct read showing advanced passing skills     Buchberger was one Team 12's more dynamic players with the ball in his hands. Fast and athletic, Buchberger showed good burst in getting by his defender and a pretty arsenal of finishes including a nice looking right-to-left crossover spin and finish. Defensively his athleticism caused havoc both on-ball and in the passing lanes resulting in multiple steals.     Glue guys are important, to every basketball team and the 6-4 Hoff does all of the little things that makes his teammates better. What stood out, the most was how he competes, on the glass, as well on defense never conceding anything to the opponent and uses great anticipation in going for steals.     One of the better, on-ball defenders, I was impressed by Soler's ability to stay connected, to the ballhandlers hip, guarding for 94 feet while using his active hands resulting in several steals. Offensively he showed flashes of a nice mid-range, strong post moves, and competed on the glass.
