Updated 2028 Rankings: NOVA Guards (Part 2)

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>We recently updated our class of 2028 rankings in the state of Virginia, going to 142 prospects from across the state we believe will be players to keep an eye on moving forward. Obviously the list will change plenty over the next two seasons, but for now here's a look at part two of some of the top junior guards in the Northern VA area.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>#21) Ezra Rich | 6'1” CG | Bishop Ireton</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Rich is one of a number of new faces at Ireton coming over from St. Mary's in Annanopolis, and he's going to make a big impact for a team looking to be the dark horse candidate in the WCAC. The 6'1” combo is highly skilled with the ability to make shots from deep and create space in the midrange off the bounce, he has a high IQ as a playmaker who sees the game ahead of others, he brings toughness and energy on the defensive end, and he impacts winning in ways that do and don't show up on the boxscore.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>#26) Cameron Jefferson | 6'2” CG | Bethel Academy</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Jefferson transferred to Bethel Academy after having a big season at Gainesville last year, and he's already showed how good he'll be with them this year after a big summer. The 6'2” combo guard is a big time athlete who thrives in transition with his above the rim finishing ability, he can score the ball from all three levels working on and off the ball, he is shifty off the bounce and good in ball screens, and he is a good defender on the ball and in help as well.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>#33) Jaeden Palmer | 6'2” CG | Fairfax Christian</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:image {"id":3607405,"sizeSlug":"large","linkDestination":"media"} --> <figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><a href="https://prephoops.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2026/04/IMG_6803.jpeg"><img src="https://prephoops.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2026/04/IMG_6803.jpeg?w=1024" alt="" class="wp-image-3607405" /></a></figure> <!-- /wp:image --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Palmer transferred to Fairfax Christian this summer after an impressive sophomore campaign with Highland School, and he'll likely be the face of the new look FFC group as they look to rebuild under new coach Joe Philogene. The 6'2” combo really came into his own throughout the season showing he can set the tone on the defensive end with his ability to provide full court pressure, he shot the ball well from deep both off the catch and off the bounce, he is shifty off the bounce with good speed in the open floor as well, and he can make plays for others too.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>#46) Hudson Moshtashari | 6'2” CG | Bishop O'Connell</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Moshtashari has really worked his way into a bigger role every season with O'Connell, and he's in a great position to make a big impact his sophomore season. The 6'2” combo fits their needs well as he is a very good shooter from deep off the catch, he's a good secondary ball handler who doesn't turn it over and has a good IQ as a playmaker, he prides himself on the defensive end of the floor, and he is willing to do the little things that help his team win.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>#67) Sintel Carlock | 6'2” PG | South County</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:image {"id":3694417,"sizeSlug":"large","linkDestination":"media"} --> <figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><a href="https://prephoops.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2026/07/IMG_8779.jpg"><img src="https://prephoops.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2026/07/IMG_8779.jpg?w=1024" alt="" class="wp-image-3694417" /></a></figure> <!-- /wp:image --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Carlock transferred to South County from Bishop O'Connell last year, and he's one of the up and coming guards in NOVA public schools to keep an eye out for. He's gone through a growth spurt since he was young and sits at a legit 6'2” and may still be growing, he is a quick twitch athlete who has fast hands and faster feet defensively, he is shifty off the bounce with the ability to get downhill and make plays for himself and others, and he has shown the ability to score it in a number of ways.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>#69) Maddox Davis | 5'11” PG | Virginia Academy</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Davis is part of a number of new guards for a VA Academy team that will look to rebuild with fresh blood, and after the way he played at Centreville he'll be one they look to build around. The 5'11” guard is a walking bucket who has in the gym range off the catch and off the bounce, he is shifty off the bounce with the ability to create space and burst to blow by defenders, he is crafty around the rim finishing over bigger defenders, and he is great in late shot clock situations with his ability to create out of isolation.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>#70) Marshall Scarborough IV | 6'2” CG | Virginia Academy</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Scarborough was a part of Gillion's success last year off the bench before transferring to VA Academy looking for more opportunities, and he'll be one to watch this year for a breakout junior season in the DMV. The 6'2” combo has great size and strength allowing him to get downhill and finish through contact, he can drill it from deep with good range off the catch, he's a good secondary ball handler and creator, and he brings good energy on the defensive end too,</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>#77) Devan Howe | 6'0” PG | Gainesville</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:image {"id":3239105,"sizeSlug":"large","linkDestination":"media"} --> <figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><a href="https://prephoops.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2025/12/Howe-Devan.jpg"><img src="https://prephoops.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2025/12/Howe-Devan.jpg?w=1024" alt="" class="wp-image-3239105" /></a></figure> <!-- /wp:image --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Howe was a big reason for Gainesville's success last season, and while you may not think he's that big of an impact when you look at the stat line, just know he is the reason so many talented players on their team stay happy where they're at. The 6'0” lead guard is the definition of a floor general who controls the pace knowing when to push and when to slow it down, he directs traffic in their sets and knows every concept and counter to what they run, he delivers all kind of passes in the pocket and right in stride, he picks his spots and scores it efficiently when needed, and he sets the tone on the defensive end as well.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
