The Florida Expo High IQ Prospects

This past Sunday a number of junior and senior prospects came together to compete at the Prep Hoops Expo at Seminole Sports Academy in Longwood, FL. A lot of great basketball was played, and a number of prospects saw their stock rise with their performances. Let's now take a closer look at some of the players who showcased their basketball IQ and let the game come to them. Vetor does a little bit of everything and puts his stamp on the game in more ways then one. The 6'1" CG plays with great poise and composure, and never seems to get flustered, just letting the game come to him. He is an excellent rebounder from the guard position, and is capable of guarding multiple positions on defense. He has a terrific jump shot and is very effective in both the mid-range game and from behind the arc, but can also beat you off the dribble and finish around the basket, keeping the defense honest. Acosta is an exceptional two-way player who plays the game hard and never takes a play off. He plays with great confidence and is a vocal player who is always talking when he's on the floor. The 5'11" CG is a tough, gritty defender and does an exceptional job staying in front of his opponent. Acosta did a good job boxing out and rebounding from the guard position, and wasn't afraid to get on the floor for loose balls. He attacks the basket with no fear, and has a nice smooth, lefty stroke from outside, which he shoots at a high rate. A quick and athletic prospect, Castro, was impressive in creating shots for both himself and his teammates throughout the event. He handles the ball very well and was very effective attacking the elbow for his pull up jumper, which he knocked down consistently. He always has his eyes up scanning the court for the open man. Castro is solid defender with both quick feet and quick hands, and collected a number of steals throughout the day. The rising junior, Pozo, was quite impressive on both sides of the ball this past weekend. The 6'3" guard never forced anything, and was able to showcase his skillset by just letting the game come to him. He is a strong, physical guard with a wide frame, and has the ability to guard multiple positions on defense. He did a tremendous job rebounding the ball on both ends of the court, and did a great job communicating while he was on the floor. He has exceptional footwork and was able to score in a number of ways throughout the event. Morris did an exceptional job rebounding the ball on the day, where he was quick and explosive off the floor. He is a smart player who always kept his head up, and continued to battle no matter what the score was. He has a long wingspan and did an excellent job keeping his hands in the passing lanes. He has a tremendous feel for the game, and did a great job moving without the ball and cutting to open spots. Morris looks to attack the basket, but was also very efficient in dishing it off to the open man.
