The Expo: Team 7 Evals

We are back again with more evaluations from this past weekend's "The Expo" presented by Prep Hoops. We had over 100 players from the 2027 and 2028 classes turn out for the event, and the competition did not disappoint. Check out the players who suited up for Team 7 and make sure to come back for the rest of the team evals from the event.    Rowell was a pretty effective slashing wing at the showcase, and has a nice hesi-cross he went to on multiple occasions to get a step on his man outside. Also did well to not force shots up, get to two feet, pivot out and either find space for short shots or the next pass. Came away really impressed with his ability to stay with the play too. There were several instances where he made the right cut at the right time off of his teams' offensive rebound and found a wide open lane to the hoop.     Mosley approached the game with a physicality on both ends of the floor that helped him make some plays, particularly on the defensive end to wall up on drives and even force some turnovers. When he did corral a turnover or reel in a defensive rebound, he was pretty quick to look up the court and found a couple long outlets over the defense for quick buckets.     Johnson was another player for Team 7 who was ready to bring it physically and compete his tail off. Biggest takeaway with his game was his effort. He was racing up and down the court, bodying guys up for position on the glass, and flying in from the perimeter to crash the offensive boards. Also showed some of that physicality and toughness on some of his drives to the basket where he was able to get an angle and knock defenders back to create space at the rim.     Whitlock was very steady at the showcase and his teammates even verbalized their appreciation for that reliability after their final game. He's a pretty well-rounded player at 6-foot-5 who finishes well with both hands, and had a couple of scooping finishes that were pretty athletic, but also rebounds well, can stretch the floor, and handles it well enough to get involved in various actions on the perimeter.     Gabbard is a quick guard who displayed a pretty solid understanding of where to go without the ball, how to set things in motion in the half court, and was willing to spread it around. Has a pretty smooth looking shot from outside and also got to show that quick acceleration of his in transition where he got out in front of the defense on multiple occasions.     Drayton worked hard with his opportunities at The Expo. I saw him on the floor several times for loose balls, he worked hard defending the ball, moving his feet and chesting up drivers. He also did some nice work pushing the ball in transition, picking out the right passes, and had some nice deliveries to shooters working off ball screens in the half court as well.     Lowery has been a big riser since the last winter season and he showed some nice improvements at the showcase too. Continued to put pressure on the interior defense by getting consistent paint touches and pushing the ball in transition, but he was also shooting the three-ball with no hesitation. I saw a couple of times where defenders purposefully sat back and encouraged him to shoot, rather than get blown by again. Lowery saw it too, and buried several shots from deep on the day, showing the confidence and ability to connect that will be a key addition to his game this winter.     One of the top standouts of the day, Kinnay came in with a mission and he definitely accomplished a lot. He's been on an upward trajectory since the spring, playing with a ton of confidence and the results have followed. He's always been a plus-athlete, but now he's finding consistency with his jump shot from different levels, making great reads and decisions with the ball, and playing with a hunger to get involved on every play, whether that's rebounding, contesting shots, or getting out in transition.     Kittleson had some really nice moments at The Expo. Got to the hoop and had several flashy finishes around defenders, also showed he can play with patience and see the floor as he worked with his back to the basket, and then showed some poise and toughness on defense. There were a few spots where he got beat or bit on a fake, but was able to recover and make a play. And then he made some other defensive plays, taking contact and holding his ground, or getting his hands in on drivers to strip the ball loose.
