Texas Sophomore ID Camp: Steel Hands

One thing most people overlook is that great hands are just important in basketball as they are in football. They can be easily overlooked, but when it comes to be a winning player, they are crucial. The student athletes below displayed excellent hands on both ends of the floor throughout the showcase.    Chris is a strong, smart combo guard that was locked in on defense from the jump. He has sneaky hands that he uses to rack up steals without getting himself into quick foul trouble. He uses his impressive speed to lead the fast break off turnovers and find his cutters or finish at the rim. He has nice form on his jump shot with a great pump fake game and a rapid first step that leaves many of his defenders in the dust on his way to the paint. He can sink pullups over longer defenders with the arc he puts on his shots, and he shows confidence by not hesitating when he sees a good opportunity.     Stanley is an impressive guard with a non-stop motor that makes positive impacts all over the court. He's maniacal on the glass in the best way, putting in full effort and going straight up for every rebound. He's a showstopper on opposing fast breaks, using his stealthy hands to swipe the ball from unsuspecting foes that think they're on their way to an easy bucket. He can cause a ruckus in the lane with his physicality, and he finishes through contact with regularity. Pimpton is a difference-maker and a winning player.     Kader is a shifty, quick guard that can stack rebounds with strong hands that seldom miss their target. He has the ability to dizzy his defenders on his way to the key with his footwork and impressive spin moves. He's a solid finisher at the rim and he's fantastic on the offensive glass, often snatching the ball from the opposition for second and third-chance opportunities at the hoop.     Shemuel is an energetic, skilled guard that always has a strong hold on the rock and seems to have endless stamina when he's on the floor. He has heart and hustle in spades and never takes a play off on either end of the court. He has great touch on his jumpers and his floaters in the lane, causing the rim to give him the benefit of the doubt consistently. He's an excellent finisher in the paint and he's not afraid to bang bodies with bigs down low.     Tyson is a quick-thinking, impactful guard that can pick opposing pockets with ease and take the rock the other way for easy buckets. His first step is incredibly fast and impressive, which makes it hard for opposing players to guard him straight up. He's a nice finisher in the paint and know how to use the glass effectively. He attracts significant attention on his drives and displays an awesome ability to kick to his perimeter shooters for wide open threes.
