Texas Sophomore ID Camp: Excellent Communicators

One thing that is hard to find at such a young age, but is huge when you do, is effective communication with teammates and the coaching staff. Particularly in situations where you're playing with new teammates. The student athletes below displayed vocal leadership and an all-around great set of skills at the showcase.    TJ is a long, dynamic shooting guard that's versatile and skilled enough to slide in as a forward whenever needed. He can shoot the three-ball with impressive accuracy and he's constantly communicating with teammates directing traffic and offering help. He has a great knack to identify where plays are going as they develop and set himself and his guys up with solid opportunities and looks at the rim.     Braylen immediately stood out from the pack to me and was one of the fastest and most skilled players I saw all weekend. He leads both vocally and by example on both ends and his speed makes him unstoppable on his drives. I didn't see one defender contain him effectively in any of his games. He has the IQ and the selflessness to mesh seamlessly with his bigs and set them up with lobs and easy opportunities as they run the floor in alignment. He's a lights-out shooter with range that extends well beyond the arc and can beat his opponents in so many different ways.     Trey is a natural leader on the floor both vocally and through his actions. He's an excellent floor general as the head of the fast break and has the vision and anticipation to accurately predict the best next moves for himself and his teammates time and time again. He's an impressive shooter and can be incredibly dangerous offensively with his quickness and physicality on his drives. He uses the glass well when going against longer defenders and he's a sound decision-maker on both ends.     Elijah is a confident, versatile player that can slide in at both guard and forward positions. He's a solid traffic director and never hesitates to help a teammate through a heads up or a screen or whatever they may need to succeed. He has fantastic upcourt vision on the break and can heave passes to his streakers with impressive accuracy for easy finishes. His lateral movement is solid and he has the ability to consistently stay with and in front of his man. He's not afraid to take on bigger players in the lane and he can be a menace in opposing passing lanes - regularly stealing the rock for quick buckets the other way.     Ross is a physical, skilled player that sets his teammates up for success and makes an impact individually on both ends as well. He's capable of leading the pack down the floor and directing traffic with his stellar vision and patience. He's aggressive in the paint - never shying from contact and getting frequent extra trips to the line. He has excellent hands defensively and can stifle opponents who don't protect the rock. He's a fantastic finisher on the fast break and regularly opens up lanes for his streakers with his full-motor approach.
