Texas Freshman Showcase: Knockdown Shooters

Coaches and scouts are always on the hunt for those players that can stretch the floor wisely with their shot selection and decision-making. The student athletes below displayed a fantastic shooting ability without tossing up early or bad shots.    Isaac is a sharpshooting, patient combo guard that came out of the gates hot at the showcase. He was sinking everything in his first game, regardless of whether he was covered tightly or not. He has a solid mid-range game and doesn't just settle for three-point attempts. Once he cooled a bit in a different game, he had the wisdom to pull back on his attempts and create opportunities for his teammates that led to consistent winning plays. He's lengthy and puts in effort on the defensive end as well, regularly altering shots and creating chaos for the opposition.     Malachi is a smart, active guard that can stretch the floor and set his teammates up for success regularly. His shooting range extends beyond the arc, and he can get on a streak in a hurry. He has excellent form on his elevation and arcs his jumpers to a point where they'll easily make it over the tallest defenders. He's patient on the offensive end, allowing plays to develop and taking what the defense gives him time and time again. He's a nice finisher at the rim and puts in solid work on the glass on both ends. His hands are dangerous on defense, stripping opposing players on drives consistently and creating extra possessions for his team.     Preston carries himself with the confidence of a veteran, which is rare to see at such a young age. He's always full speed on both ends, but he does it without being reckless. He can sink jumpers with ease with range that extends beyond the three-point line. He has outstanding vision and sets his teammates up with high-percentage opportunities in motion on their way toward the rim. He's always ready to make the next play and never panics under pressure, displaying elite ballhandling ability that allows him to work himself out of jams or double-teams.     Payton is a lengthy, clever shooting guard that makes positive impacts on both ends of the floor with regularity. He can identify high-percentage opportunities quickly and sink pullup jumpers while making it look easy. He has the ability to be a force in the lane and a beautiful touch on his shots in the key that fall more often than not. He puts in great work on the glass and identifies his best outlet options with rapid precision. His hands are dangerous on both sides of the floor, causing havoc defensively and gobbling boards off the offensive glass.     Jett is a strong, gritty combo guard that never stops hustling on either end of the floor. He played through mistakes excellently and recovered to the point where he was one of the most effective players for his team. He can go on streaks with his impressive shooting ability and can sink it beyond the arc with ease. He's a beast defensively, constantly causing stress for the opposition and fighting through screens while creating turnovers.
