Midwest Fall League: Sunday Morning Standouts

The Midwest Fall League continued on Sunday at the Queen City Sportsplex and in this article I'll break down my standouts from Sunday morning's action.

I usually don't spotlight players back to back weeks but Caudill was dominant on the interior for his team. A force on the block, Caudill said ‘it's too easy' after he scored four baskets in a row in the paint. A dominant player in the league, Caudill sets the tone at both ends of the court for his team. Expect to hear a lot about Caudill this winter as his fall league dominance should just be the start for him as he prepares for his junior season.

Aguon-Doakes is a smaller guard but was active as a helpside defender and showed the ability to get to the paint off the dribble. Aguon-Doakes helped clinch a win for his team by breaking the full court press to earn a hockey assist and then got a steal to secure the win. Shifty on the ball, Aguon-Doakes is a tough cover in space and has already caught our eye at the Prep Hoops Freshman Showcase from August. Winning MVP from a Bleacher Prospect camp back in May, Aguon-Doakes just wants to play top competition from around the area and stand out. Excited to see how he develops physically as his skill level is impressive for a prospect of his age.

I was impressed with Anwar on Sunday as he had a really nice stretch where he scored back to back times in transition and also had a couple defensive rebounds to finish stops for his team. Anwar was a good helpside defender as he was usually in the right position if one of his teammates got beat off the dribble. I thought Anwar had good shooting form, showing the future ability to space the floor. With a stockier frame, Anwar is hard to move in the paint and brings nice physicality to his team.

I liked Keimer as a utility piece for the ‘Boulermakers' squad he played for. Early on I was impressed with a nice kickout to a shooter for an open 3-pointer. Throughout the game Keimer set screens, had another nice kickout pass to a shooter, got an offensive rebound and had a nice extension step finish. Overall, Keimer was an unselfish player who had a high feel for the game. Keimer is a good teammate to have at a fall league because he won't take bad shots and gets the ball to the open teammate.

Playing up in the high school league this Sunday, Fancher was a big boost for his team who were short on bodies. Early on, Fancher had a nice baseline drive and score and showed the ability that he could make an open shot on the perimeter. With a quick trigger from downtown, Fancher hit a wing 3-pointer against a hard closeout. I liked that Fancher mixed it up with older competition, and looks like a top player in greater Cincinnati's 2031 class.
