Iron 8 Fall League: Front Court Watch

The Iron 8 Fall League has provided a great early look at some of the top wing and frontcourt talent heading into the upcoming high school season. Through the first few weeks, the league has featured competitive games, physical matchups, and versatile wings and forwards who have stood out with their ability to score, rebound, defend multiple positions, and make an impact on both ends of the floor. While there is still plenty of basketball left to be played, several players have already caught my attention with their production, toughness, athleticism, basketball IQ, and overall impact on winning. Here are a few of the wings and forwards who have stood out to me so far during the Iron 8 Fall League.    Hyter has grown and developed over the years as I have been following since him since he was a freshmen. He is long with the ability to defend inside and on the perimeter. Offensively he uses his length to get to the cup and finish around the rim. Hyter was instrumental in helping his team win the CAA Division 3 State Championship last season and I expect him to be one of the focal points going into this winter. Hyter is one of my favorite sleeper prospects as he has tremendous upside and potential.     Littleton is not just a power forward, he can be classified as a point forward. He posses the best vision and passing ability on his team which makes him a multi dimensional threat for opposing teams. Littleton can attack inside and at the high post by finishing around the rim, hitting open mid range jumpers, or dishing dimes to open teammates as opposing defenses collapses on him. At just a sophomore, with continued growth and development, Littleton will be one of Arizona's best kept secrets at his class and position.     Hampton is an athletic rim runner who protects the paint and cleans the glass well. He defends tough and is athletic enough to defend at the perimeter. I think he could be a fantastic big man at a small college as he has the physical tools and ability to compete at a high level. I like his ceiling and would love to see him continue to grow and develop.     Douglas is a long combination forward who can play both at the perimeter and the inside. He is still raw however he has a tremendous potential and upside. He can clean the glass at both ends of the floor, protect the paint, and finish around the rim. I would love to see him fine tune his guard skills, and his best basketball is ahead of him as he has a great foundation and platform to build on.     Baird is a hidden gem prospect who has the physical tools and IQ to play at the next level. I was very impressed with his skill set especially the way he shoots the ball. He can score from all three levels, defend inside and at the perimeter. I expect Baird to be one of the focal points for Horizon Honors this winter as he has great upside and a high ceiling.
