Hoops Stock Market: Prospects on the Rise

Sometimes it is hard to find talent. Scouts travel to as many games as possible and look for talent. Sometimes you can miss a kid because they play for a team that may not highlight their skill set. They may just be a piece while at the beginning of their hoop journey. They may be a shooter for a team, but have a special ability to slash and get to the rim. Either way, sometimes it may take a little bit longer to recognize their full skill set. Here are some players that have advanced skill sets and this year they could get the opportunity to show it.    Edwards was a standout player at the Sophomore showcase and made a big impact every time he stepped on the floor. At 6'0 he is a hyper athletic player with upperclassman size. He is a strong slasher but he can pull up anytime. He has top player intangibles, but the tangible skills are easy to spot. He is a clear vertical hooper and his explosiveness stands out every time he touches the floor. His role at Mamou may still be limited, but he has high level skill and will be a serious prospect for the next three years.     Henry is living proof that iron sharpens iron and he has greatly increased his skill set from Freshman to sophomore season. It is hard to find freshman in the class because they are developing behind seasoned seniors. They may not have the size, skill or sweat equity with the coach to grab big minutes. Henry has grown, and being in the gym with some of the toughest players in the state has improved his game. He is ready for Varsity exposure, and could be a big time impact player for Karr this year and beyond.     Mickey has been making a name for himself this summer and The Willow School could see a big jump in production on the heels of Jacksons improvement. He is a shifty guard that plays with great pace. He is not sped up easily and makes great basketball decisions. He has all the tools to be the lead guy and is one to watch. Jackson is ready for the spot light and this season will be a big season for him.     Williams is a true point guard with an amazing feel for the game. In a game that rewards scoring, he walks the line between scorer and facilitator. He can do both and at a high level. He is fun to watch in the open court and uses his hoop smarts to make the right play. He is a true basketball player, but he also has the flair of a hooper. Look for Williams to lead the charge for Southern Lab to get right back to the top 28.     From the first time I watched Mire, I have always enjoyed his game. He just does all the little things really well and that will stand out in any gym. From the first game, watching him break down defenders, facilitate and play the sharp shooter role he has never disappointed in a competition. He is earning next level opportunities and it's all because of his attention to detail. Every coach loves a student of the game and Mire is an obvious pick for basketball dedication. Lafayette Christian could shock some folks this season and Mire will surely be a catalyst for their success.    Hard work, dedication and being a student of the game goes a long way. These players have locked in and are showing the needed improvement to earn next level opportunities. Peaking at the right time is the key to earning opportunities and this group of dedicated prospects will surely make recruiting boards this upcoming season.
