Freshmen Showcase 2026: 3rd Team

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Saturday, September 5th&nbsp;<strong>Prep Hoops Arizona</strong>&nbsp;had the 4th annual&nbsp;<strong>Freshman Showcase</strong>&nbsp;which was hosted at Inspire Courts in Gilbert, AZ. We had around 55 freshmen who were competing in a few games of 5 on 5.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>This article is&nbsp;<strong>not a prospect ranking</strong>&nbsp;but how productive they were at the camp when I viewed them.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Here is the 3rd Team</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2970198' first='William' last='Boparai'] Bella Vista Prep</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The biggest player in attendance and one of the biggest in the entire class or state for that matter. He is a natural shot blocker who moves well from end to end but he is a straight five and lives in the paint. He will score with dunks, offensive rebound put backs and hook shots. He is also a good passer for position.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='3729691' first='Jalil' last='Briggs'] Chandler</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A scoring guard who is a two-way player. He will defend a few positions with some quickness and toughness and score. He will fill it up with pull-ups off the dribble from mid-range and dribble drives to the basket.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='3724080' first='Kai' last='Cohee'] ALA QC</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A pure point guard is almost a throwback. He is constantly surveying the scene and the lefty will drive and kick it straight into a shooting pocket. He will first touch the paint after a burst of speed and throw the dime. He has quick hands on defense and can score it with perimeter jumpers.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='3754933' first='Adrian' last='Ferraro'] Basha</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A true combo guard can make players around him better plus score. He was driving and kicking it to his teammates and he can burst to the basket to get downhill. He was also a very good on-ball defender with quicker hands and feet. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='3510665' first='Elai' last='Greenblatt'] Pinnacle&nbsp;</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>An undersized point guard simply knows how to play, He will smartly change speeds to get to the basket and score or he will pull-up from mid-range plus hit the three. He is a dimer with advanced court vision and a high feel for the game.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='3724752' first='Ryan' last='Kennedy'] ALA QC</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A good sized wing forward who showed off a little bit of everything. He can defend multiple positions and moves well in space and can defend a little inside. He is a good passer as an unselfish player and can score with dribble drives to the basket thru some contact.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='3642150' first='Quinn' last='Rettenmier'] Willow Canyon</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A bigger guard who is highly skilled. He has real skill from the perimeter with threes off the catch or dribble and he will ball fake and get downhill with a deceptively quicker burst. He also plays smart fundamental defense.  </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='3736639' first='EJ' last='Rivers'] The Prize Academy</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A long wing forward or bigger guard with a plus wingspan. He will defend multiple positions with his fluidity and length and will score it with threes off the catch and even dunk it in traffic showing off some nice springs. He rebounds well in his area and shows upside. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='3662791' first='Jerison' last='Walcott'] Pinnacle&nbsp;(Pictured)</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A scoring real point guard made some pinpoint passes. He threw some up the court ropes, bail out passes and drive and kicks. He will score with pull-ups threes and mid-range jumpers and get to the basket with a smooth handle. He is also quick on the ball defensively.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
