Everyone can pretty much score the basketball but the separator for alot of us watching the game is the willingness to play tough defense and taking pride in making life miserable for the opposing teams offense. In this article ill go over some players who stood out on the defensive end of the floor. Dominating the defensive boards, getting steals leading to transition baskets, 🔐ing up there primary offensive player, diving on the floor for a loose ball or changing the game by blocking or changing shots in the paint. Gritty/tough on ball defender and wanted to guard the length of the floor. He had strong and quick feet and good anticipation not only with on ball defense but off ball as well. Loved how he was on the floor often for loose balls and boxed his man out on a consistent basis also. Showed he is a solid communicator on the defensive side also getting not just himself matched up quickly but his teammates also. Showed a nice well rounded offensive game also and made the most of his opportunities. Vance is a skilled and versatile big on the offensive end of the floor but he is just as solid defensively. Vance showed he can guard most smaller guards by using his smarts and his length to his advantage by playing off guys (has good feet and movement on the perimeter) and still being able to contest shots. Was not shy about getting on the floor either. He had more then a few blocked shots in the 5vs5 games and changed just as many when players decided to challenge him in the paint. He was a rebounding maniac in 3vs3 and did just as well in the 5vs5 games. Throws an excellent outlet pass to start the break on a defensive rebound. Long/active 6'4 SF who plays against other bigs amd handles his own. Looks like hes 6'6 in person, in one possession alone he had 3 blocks around the rim and then secured the defensive rebound and started the fast break leading to a layup. With his athleticism he showed the ability to defend multiple positions at a pretty high level. Plays tougher then his build would tell you he can. Did a nice job on the O Boards all day keeping possessions alive and scoring on several putbacks. Akok is a long active tough defensive player with quick hands and good feet, showed he could guard all positions other then the big 5's. I was very impressed with his ability to recover when he did get beat off the dribble and also showed the ability to block shots from behind without fouling. Was an intense rebounder and liked the contact in the post battling for boards. High NRG guy on defensive end! Excellent floor communicator got eveyone organized on that end of the floor. Solid strong 6'1 defender with strength to guard most bigs but with good feet to also guard perimeter players from time to time. Arguably one of the best rebounders in this showcase, pure effort and relentless aggression is what separated him from the rest. Real good inside post defender, he will make his mathchups work for their post position and didnt allow many easy post catches. Stayed on his feet well and didn't jump for many shot fakes which kept him in great position to stop his man often. Gritty player who was on the floor as much as anyone else and led by example for his teams doing the "Dirty Work".
