<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>August 17th-18th Cedric Cobb Sr and I held the 9th annual&nbsp;<strong>Southwest Basketball Camp</strong>&nbsp;at the Phhacility in Phx, AZ.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>120 players came to gain exposure in front of college coaches and scouts plus compete versus some top end players over the two days.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Each player competed in 5 games for the two days plus 48 competed in an extra All-Star Game. He is a shifty ball handler and he takes long strides to get downhill with a nice burst of speed to the basket. He has great length to rebound or pester the opposing guards on defense. He made the move to ESA from Perry. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='2533653' first='Bennett' last='Christensen'] <strong>ALA-QC</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A pure point guard with some size was playing thru an injury and still holding his own. He is a next level passer with up the court ropes and drive and kicks. He will score it with drives and mid-range jumpers. He guides every team he's on and he made the move to ALA-QC from Ben Franklin. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='2959382' first='Yousef' last='Hammad'] <strong>Westview</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A highly skilled scoring lead guard made the move to Westview from Goodyear. He had some of the deepest range in the camp and the lefty gets it off his hands quickly from beyond the three point line. He has the quickness and handle to jet down the lane and use the floater or get to the basket and score with and-1's.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='2949468' first='Carmelo' last='Hankton'] <strong>Ironwood</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A strong framed combo guard who can play on or off the ball to the lead spot when needed. He is a tough on-ball defender with his plus length and lateral quickness combined with toughness and he can score. He will shoot it with off the dribble threes and layups in transition. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='1873694' first='Tyrese' last='Holmes'] <strong>Brophy Prep</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A wing forward with versatility, skill and defensive instincts. He will score it from inside and out with threes off the catch, post ups inside and will fade away from mid-range and get downhill in traffic with some contact. He is very mobile and can defend the paint and covers well in space. He will rebound and block shots plus score it. He smartly keeps the ball high and will score with hook shots with his left or right hands and put backs or layups in the lane.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='2320420' first='Blake' last='Roberts'] <strong>Casteel</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A strong framed power forward with plus strength and girth. He can control the glass and seems to rebound everything using his frame to carve out space. He will score it with layups around the basket and offensive rebound put backs. He made the move to Casteel from Basha.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='2339785' first='Zack' last='Vendrell'] <strong>Sequoia Prep</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A highly skilled guard who can play either guard spot in a pinch. He makes smart reads to his teammates and plays within the flow of the offense. He is a knockdown three point shooter with a quicker trigger off the catch. He moves without the ball and will relocate to an open spot. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='3727304' first='Jamarri' last='Walker'] <strong>The Prize Academy</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A strong framed scoring point guard has good size with long arms and plus strength. He is a natural downhill guard but he can score it with threes off the catch or pull. He made some nice up the court passes on a rope to his teammates and is tough on the ball defensively. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='2724508' first='Jackson' last='Warner'] <strong>Notre Dame Prep</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>A bigger scoring guard with some feel who can make plays and high skill level. He will rattle in threes off the catch and he can get to the basket or score it on the break. He is a smart passer and throws the lob pass about as well as you can. He is a team player and when he is on, he can be a floor spacer for the Saints all season long. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
