High School Spotlight: Cloverdale Clovers

The season is still a few months away, but it is never too early to look ahead at the high school season. We will be taking a look at some quick hitters, the top player(s), a potential breakout player, other roster members, and more for the upcoming season. One of the more intriguing teams to keep an eye on is the Cloverdale Clovers. Anytime you have a player with the size and skill set of 2028 center [player_tooltip player_id='2617833' first='Ishmael' last='Kiteka'] at the 1A level, you immediately give yourself a major advantage. Kiteka is one of the most dominant interior players in the class and enters the season coming off an impressive year where he averaged nearly a double-double with 20.3 points and 9.8 rebounds per game. With his combination of size, physicality, and production around the basket, Kiteka gives Cloverdale a true difference-maker who can control games on both ends of the floor.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:heading --> <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Potential Breakout Player: [player_tooltip player_id='3493161' first='Trey' last='Schabel']</h2> <!-- /wp:heading --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Not only does Cloverdale have a major advantage in the frontcourt with [player_tooltip player_id='2617833' first='Ishmael' last='Kiteka'], but the Clovers also have a solid group of guards that can help take pressure off their star big man. One player who could be in line for a breakout season is senior guard [player_tooltip player_id='3493161' first='Trey' last='Schabel']. One of the more unselfish guards you will find in the state, Schabel is a tough, hard-nosed competitor who consistently makes winning plays on both ends of the floor. He brings back 11.5 points per game from last season and will be a key piece in helping balance the offense for Cloverdale.
