Freshman Showcase: Second Team Selections

Yesterday at Park School, the 2026 DMV Freshman Showcase took place and as usual, it was a productive afternoon getting introduced to some of the up-and-coming talent ready to hit the court this winter for their respective high schools. The event was broken down into two sessions where the attendees played in 3-on-3 games before breaking out into 5-on-5, which allowed the scouts to get a feel for how they read the floor both in a half court setting before getting up and down in more of an uptempo fashion.   As the showcase came to a close the MVP, First Team and Second Team selections were finalized.   We already highlighted the <a href="https://prephoops.com/2026/08/freshman-showcase-mvp-and-first-team-selections/">MVP and the First Team</a>, so now we move the prospects who made Second Team honors.   <h2 class="wp-block-heading">Second Team:</h2>   2030 McDonogh/[program_tooltip program_id='2077005' first='Team' last='Thrill'] [player_tooltip player_id='3510762' first='DJ' last='Walker']    Walker has one of the highest ceilings of any prospect in attendance with his blend of size, skill and versatility. Standing 6'3"-6'4" and set to earn rotational minutes with McDonogh's varsity team this season, Walker was moving better than when I saw him just two months ago. He was more confident in his attack off the bounce, he pushed the tempo in transition and made several advance passes that were perfectly on target for scores all while converting a few jumpers from three to further showcase his ability. He had two occasions where he went to finish dunks, but the ball popped out when he let go of the rim. Still, it was good to see his intentions when he had a clear path and the power that he followed through with despite getting an unlucky bounce.   A lot of tools here with Walker and will be fun to watch him develop over the years to come.    2030 Sussex Tech/Factory Fusion Kenneth Turnage    Turnage stood out mainly due to his overall effort on both ends from start to finish. It just seemed like he took every possession personal and used it to prove a statement as a young guard to watch in Delaware moving forward. He's a physical guard who gets downhill in transition with effective end-to-end speed and can absorb hits on his way to the bucket without disturbing his balance or ability to finish. If he was left open, the 5-foot-9 guard could splash three's with confidence, but you could tell his preference was to get to the cup where he is capable with either hand. Defensively he was a pest in the passing lanes and always looked to crash the glass so he could push the tempo himself.    2030 Stephen Decatur [player_tooltip player_id='3737853' first='Camden' last='Brady']    Brady was a fun watch for me personally. At first he started things by drilling a couple of shots from outside. Then he started to put the ball on the floor attacking closeouts where he got to his right hand for mid-range jumpers that he converted with fluidity. After that, there were spurts in transition or more getting in the paint in a half court setting where his anticipation and floor vision as a passer emerged. Brady drew defenders on the weakside and made them pay immediately by delivering no-look dimes to cutting teammates or bigs along the baseline. He manipulated with his eyes and the threat of his dependable jumper forced his defender to remain honest at all times.    2030 Gonzaga/DC Blue Devils [player_tooltip player_id='3676331' first='Michael' last='Carbone']    Carbone caught my eye once 5v5 play broke out and it was in large part due to his shooting. He showed that he could bury three's in bunches in the 3v3 portion of the event, but as the afternoon progressed, he was showing his ability to make them off the dribble even if they were contested. Carbone is a southpaw combo guard who can create enough space for his quick trigger. Set to attend Gonzaga (DC), Carbone will be a sleeper to keep on radars as he continues to develop his skillset as a guard.    2030 Trinity Episcopal/Team Loaded [player_tooltip player_id='3599333' first='Alexander' last='Blair']    Blair was one of the taller prospect in attendance and did a good job of making use of his size on the glass as he rebounded in bulk. He did a nice job of setting ball screens in 3v3 play, rolling hard to the rim while simultaneously sealing off the guard who switched onto him before catching and finishing high at the rim. As the speed ramped up in 5v5 play, Blair put his head down and gave effort running the floor and on a handful of occasions it paid off in his favor by finishing dump-off passes as a trailer or cleaning up misses from teammates in transition. When he had touches on the block, Blair showed comfort in finishing with soft touch over his left shoulder on hooks.   As he continues to develop and improve his agility, Blair will have a chance to be an intriguing big to monitor in VA as he's set to attend Trinity Episcopal.
