Class 1A: Top Ten Returning Assists

1.) 2027 Henry Adam (Pekin) -- 163 assists   Adam is a true lead guard who loves to get his teammates involved first and foremost. He's a capable scoring threat, averaging 8.9 points a game, but he's at his best when he's applying pressure on opposing defenders with his speed and playmaking talents. He posted a really strong 2.12 assist-to-turnover ratio last season.   2.) 2027 Kayd Wilson (Springville) -- 135   Wilson had a strong junior year, stuffing the stat sheet to the tune of 9.2 points, 5.7 rebounds, 5.6 assists, 2.5 steals, and 1.2 blocks per game, showcasing his ability to impact the game on both ends of the floor on a nightly basis. Following the graduations of the Orioles' top two scorers, he'll be asked to carry an even heavier load as a senior.   t3.) 2027 [player_tooltip player_id='3218251' first='Cole' last='Jeppesen'] (Riverside) -- 132   Jeppesen, a 5-11 guard, is a solid three-level scorer who averaged 10.5 points on 39-34 shooting splits, but he's at his best when he's getting his teammates involved. He does a great job setting up his teammates, posting a 2.93 assist-to-turnover ratio last season, and he's also a menace on the defensive end, averaging two steals a contest.   t3.) 2027 [player_tooltip player_id='2906452' first='Caden' last='Oswald'] (Coon Rapids-Bayard) -- 132   Oswald was the straw that stirred the drink for the Crusaders on both ends of the floor last season, leading the team in helpers as well as leading in steals for a team that was among the best in the state defensively last season. Like many on this list, he posted a strong assist-to-turnover ratio of 2.49, even more impressive considering how much he has the ball in his hands.   5.) 2027 [player_tooltip player_id='2906540' first='Louis' last='Gonner'] (Marquette Catholic) -- 129   Gonner routinely made huge shots last season for the Defenders, who finished runner-up in 1A for a third straight season, but his playmaking was also top-notch, pacing a Marquette offense that led the class in scoring. He's a tough, physical guard who embraces contact and puts constant pressure on defenders with both his shotmaking and decision-making.   6.) 2027 Logan Aldrich (Starmont) -- 124   Aldrich is a true pass-first guard, averaging more assists (5.4) and rebounds (4.0) than points (3.7) in his junior year. He was one of just three regulars for the Stars to post a positive assist-to-turnover ratio last season.   t7.) 2027 Tanner Troendle (Kee) -- 113   Troendle was asked to do a ton for the Hawks last season, accounting for more than 41% of the team's assists as a junior. After a down year last season, Kee should be improved, and Troendle is a big part of that.   t7.) 2027 [player_tooltip player_id='3620652' first='Jensen' last='Waigand'] (East Union) -- 113   In addition to leading the team in assists last season, Waigand also led the Eagles in scoring (13.3) and steals (2.4), showcasing his two-way talents on a nightly basis. He's a quick guard who can also really shoot it (38.3%) from the 3-point line.   9.) 2027 [player_tooltip player_id='3343988' first='Brady' last='Reynolds'] (Earlham) -- 112   In his first year playing for former Hawkeye Austin Ash, Reynolds thrived in a bit more up-tempo style of play, averaging 10.3 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 1.8 steals in addition to his work as a playmaker. He looks primed to have a huge senior year.   10.) 2028 Blake Baethke (Riceville) -- 108   Baethke is part of a solid 2028 class at Riceville that also includes star forward Owen Smith, and he and Smith form a solid one-two punch, especially in ball-screen actions. He's a good floor general who sets his teammates up and puts pressure on teams with his speed.
