Breaking In: Newcomers to 2028 Updated Rankings

Our <a href="https://prephoops.com/virginia/rankings/2028-rankings/" data-type="link" data-id="https://prephoops.com/virginia/rankings/2028-rankings/">updated Virginia 2028 rankings</a> feature 35 new prospects who earned their way onto the board following the spring and summer. Here is a closer look at some of the newcomers making their debut in our updated rankings.    A new arrival from Ukraine, Datsenko is a skilled, versatile forward with good positional size and an impressive offensive skill set. He is a capable perimeter shot maker with range beyond the arc and has the ball skills to handle and create for others. Datsenko is also an above average athlete who plays with a high basketball IQ and consistently makes sound decisions with the ball in his hands. Expect Division I programs to take notice this season.     Martin is an athletic, active wing with the ability to score at all three levels. He is an aggressive attacker who consistently gets downhill and finishes effectively in the paint, while also showing the ability to knock down perimeter shots with range both off the catch and off the bounce. Martin competes with a high motor and is a productive rebounder who uses his athleticism and activity to impact the glass.     A new arrival at Hargrave, Oruchukwu is a strong, athletic and versatile forward who consistently plays with a high motor. He is especially effective in transition, where he runs the floor well and uses his strength and athleticism to attack the rim and finish in the paint. Oruchukwu continues to improve as a perimeter shot maker, adding another dimension to his offensive game. He is also productive on the glass, using his physicality and activity to rebound at a high level on both ends of the floor.     A high academic prospect who reclassified into the 2028 class, Seabron is a versatile combo guard with good positional size. He is an above average athlete with an improving perimeter shot and the ability to impact the game from either backcourt position. Seabron plays with a high basketball IQ and consistently makes sound decisions with the ball in his hands.     Playing up with [program_tooltip program_id='2078817' first='Virginia' last='Elite']'s 17U team this summer, Young is a lefty guard with the versatility to play either backcourt position. He is a capable perimeter shot maker who can also get by defenders off the dribble and consistently create advantages in the paint. An above average athlete, Young can generate offense for himself or create opportunities for teammates when the defense collapses. He also brings good activity on the defensive end, giving him the ability to impact the game on both ends of the floor.
