September is about a week and a half away, meaning the new school year is right around the corner. The 2028 class is looking to have big junior seasons, especially in the back court. Here are the 2028 South Jersey shooting guard prospects to track this season.    Thatcher is one of the top shooter in the Olympic Conference, which he should put on display this season. The 6'1 guard has a smooth release on his jumper and can knock down triples in bunches. Thatcher moves well without the ball in his hands, freeing himself for open layups and jumpers in the half court. He slides his feet well on the defensive end and is an underrated passer. Thatcher is a sharpshooting guard prospect who should torch the nets from distance over the course of the season.     Day-Thompson had monster games for the Vikings down the stretch, including a 50-point performance in the Cape-Atlantic League Tournament semifinals. The 6'1 guard has a good release on his jumper and can get hot from distance in a hurry. Day-Thompson is more than just a shooter as he can also get to the rim off the bounce and finishes well around the basket. He has the ability to play on the ball as well and uses his quick hands to get deflections on the defensive end. Day-Thompson has the ability to put up points in bunches, which will help Atlantic City make a deep run in the postseason.     Gillen is one of the top shooters in Ocean County, which he should put on display this season. The 6'0 guard has a clean release on his jumper as he wastes little motion and can shoot either off the catch or bounce. Gillen can also get into the paint off the bounce and has a good touch in the mid-range. He pushes the pace well in transition and jumps passing lanes on the defensive end. Gillen's ability to stretch the floor along with his ability to defend the ball will help his stock in a big way this season.     Donaldson has the ability to breakout this season as he should have the ball in his hand more. The 6'2 guard has a good first step, which he uses to beat his defender off the bounce and finishes strong around the rim. Donaldson has a good release on his jumper and sets his feet before he shoots. He moves well without the ball in his hands and slides his feet on the defensive end. Donaldson is a gritty guard prospect whose ability to score inside and out will help his game throughout the season.     Fritz does a little bit of everything for the Clippers, which he should continue to do this season. The 6'0 guard uses his handle to get to his spot on the floor and rises up with confidence on his jumper. Fritz moves well without the ball in his hands, freeing himself for open jumpers and layups in the half court. He is a strong rebounder and jumps passing lanes on defense. Fritz should continue to fill up the boxscore in 2026-27, which will help his stock in a big way.
