SWFL Underclassmen on the Rise, First Five

There is a ton of talent coming up through the ranks here in SWFL, so let's take a closer look at some the freshman and sophomore prospects who have already begun to make a name for themselves in the area.    Verot's man in the middle, Fletcher, had an outstanding freshman campaign for the Vikings. He has excellent size and strength, and is a huge presence in the middle with his shot-blocking ability. The dual-sport athlete controls his body well, and the 6'7" PF has great athleticism for a prospect his size. Fletcher is tremendous down low in the post, where he likes to bully smaller opponents, and has the ability to finish through contact.     The transfer from Barron Collier, Noel, will add some height to a very talented group of guards for CSN. He is long and athletic, and has the ability to guard multiple positions on defense. The 6'4" forward is quick off the floor, and is an excellent rebounder on both ends of the court. He has great energy and never gives up on a play, and does all the little things for his team. Noel has a quick first step and looks to attack the basket, where he likes to play around the rim.     Gonzalez is a tremendous lead guard who plays well beyond his years. He has an excellent basketball IQ and plays the game with great confidence. He is an elite ball-handler, with exceptional court vision, making him a true floor general whenever he is on the court. The rising sophomore can beat you off the dribble and attack the basket, or step back and knock down the 3-ball which he shoots at a very high rate.     A superb athlete and do it all type of player, Dobson, effects the game in a number of ways, both offensively and defensively. He has excellent handles, and attacks the basket with no fear. The 6'0" CG is tremendous in the transition game, where he can showcase his speed an athleticism, but can also knockdown the open three when needed. Dobson is an elite defender who prides himself on that side of the ball, and has a knack for forcing steals and turning defense into offense.     Weber plays the game with great poise and composure for a prospect his age. The rising sophomore never seems to get flustered when he's on the court, and just plays the game right. He is a smart player who handles the ball well, and always has his eyes up looking for the open man. He has the ability to create his own shot, but is also very effective in his catch and shoot game. Weber is solid in the mid-range, and also knocks down the 3-ball consistently.
