Spencer’s Standouts-NLI Recap Part 1

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>I was able to cover the last live period in June at the Nevada Live Invitational. Time to take a look back at this outstanding event, here are some of the players that stood out to me:</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='2825980' first='Brexton' last='Quinet']<strong> Deer Valley:</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The lefty sharpshooter made some key plays for Deer Valley all weekend long. He is a lights-out shooter but uses his shot fake well to get downhill. He is a super smart PG and will find open teammates for easy looks. Brexton is a high-IQ defender who will get steals to convert to easy transition buckets. He will be a key piece for Deer Valley as they look to make a run.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='2746603' first='Shalen' last='Sheppard'] <strong>Crossroads:</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The big man showcased his elite skills all weekend long. He was able to get into the paint and finish with a floater. Shalen has extremely soft hands and touch around the rim. He is able to work really well out of the low block using his frame to create space and finish. Shalen continues to improve defensively as he is getting quicker feet. He will play a huge role in this Crossroads team.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='1555179' first='Darius' last='Wabbington'] <strong>Sunnyslope</strong>:</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Darius was able to show off all aspects of his game during Vegas Live. There were numerous times when Darius ended up playing the PG role and thriving for this Sunnyslope team. He makes excellent passes and hits his teammates in stride. He is an excellent rebounder on both sides of the ball and has an elite outlet pass. Darius has an elite post game that he is starting to expand to the perimeter. He recently scheduled visits with multiple HM programs, so it will be interesting to see where he commits.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='2552733' first='Donovan' last='Palmer'] <strong>Sunnyslope</strong>:</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The high-motor power forward is someone to keep an eye on. He transferred over to Sunnyslope and has already made a significant impact. He is another big body in the paint to go alongside Wabbington, and they have a lethal high-low game. Donovan's footwork has improved tremendously and will continue to get better as the year goes on.&nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='2533651' first='Bentley' last='Elrod'] <strong>Sunnyslope</strong>:</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Another transfer to Sunnyslope has made his mark. He is able to hit jumpers at a high percentage. Along with that, Bentley has a nice midrange pull-up that he goes to often. He gets downhill well and plays on two feet, making good decisions. He plays hard on defense and rebounds well for this Sunnyslope squad. He will be an important piece for them this upcoming year.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='3226220' first='Linus' last='Turner'] <strong>Sunnyslope</strong>:</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The young guard shined all summer. He is an elite 3 and D player for this Sunnyslope team. He uses his long wingspan to get a lot of deflections and steals on and off the ball. He can convert in transition with a nice touch around the rim. He has a pretty jumper that he uses often. He will play a much bigger role for this Sunnyslope team this year and will be an important part.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
