Updated 2028 Rankings: 540/434/276 Wings (Part 1)

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>We recently updated our 2028 class rankings in Virginia, adding over 25 names in a class that continues to get better it seems like every day. Here's a look at part one of the wings from the Southern/Central/Western areas.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>#2) Isaac Smith | 6'6” SF | Hargrave</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:image {"id":3674331,"sizeSlug":"large","linkDestination":"media"} --> <figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><a href="https://prephoops.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2026/06/Smith-Isaac.jpg"><img src="https://prephoops.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2026/06/Smith-Isaac.jpg?w=1024" alt="" class="wp-image-3674331" /></a></figure> <!-- /wp:image --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Smith is considered one of the top players in the country in his class, and had a monster DMV Live where he picked up multiple high major offers and continues to see his stock rise nationally. He has a frame built to play the game with long arms and an upper body that should fill out well, he can really handle it for his size using hesitations and a shifty handle to break down defenders and get to the rim, he's an athletic finisher and defender who is a mismatch, and he's really improved in his consistency from deep as well.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>#9) Kamdon Brangman-Cain | 6'4” SF | Blue Ridge</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:image {"id":3592845,"sizeSlug":"large","linkDestination":"media"} --> <figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><a href="https://prephoops.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2026/04/Brangman-Cain-Kamdon.jpg"><img src="https://prephoops.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/2/2026/04/Brangman-Cain-Kamdon.jpg?w=1024" alt="" class="wp-image-3592845" /></a></figure> <!-- /wp:image --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Brangman-Cain transferred to Blue Ridge and reclassified last year after being a star at Gainesville, and it was perhaps the best decision for him as he showed he can play with top competition and gives him another year to develop as well. The 6'4” wing is a superb athlete who thrives in transition both handling the ball and running the floor, he gets downhill aggressively and finds his way to the rim through anyone, he can knock down open shots and is improving in his consistency, and he has a great motor on the defensive end as well.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>#33) Davis Winters | 6'4” SG | Miller School</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Winters has announced he will transfer to Miller after being a standout at Western Albemarle the past two years, and he's made a big splash playing with Boo Williams on the 16U EYBL Circuit. The 6'4” guard can play in multiple roles as he is highly skilled and has a high IQ, he can drill it from deep off the catch, he can get downhill and is a very good finisher in the midrange and at the room, and he can make plays for others as well.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>#34) Owen Jackson | 6'4” SF | Fort Chiswell</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Jackson was Virginia's leading scorer last year at over 30 points per game, including a 53 point performance in a heartbreaking loss in the Class 1 State Championship game. He's a do-it-all type of forward who can put it on the deck and get downhill to use his size to finish around the rim, he can score the ball from all three levels and has deep range from behind the arc, he can post smaller defenders and finish around the rim, and he is a very good rebounder on both ends too.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>#37) Devin Mickell | 6'5” SF | Stuart Hall</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Mickell was a new name that broke out for Stuart Hall this past season after transferring there, and he is one of the more intriguing long term prospects that you will come across in this class. The 6'5” wing has great positional size and is a big time athlete who plays above the rim with authority, he can push the ball in transition and has great footwork in one-on-one finishing opportunities, he can knock down shots from multiple levels, and he has all the tools to be a lock down defender as well.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>#77) Walker Overbay | 6'5” SF | Christiansburg</strong></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Overbay is part of a talented young Christiansburg core who will be fun to watch as they grow together, and while he's mostly known as a baseball prospect he has a lot of talent on the hardwood too. The 6'5” wing has good positional size and isn't afraid to get physical in the paint, he can light it up from deep and attack closeouts, he's able to get downhill and finish or use back cuts well, and he has good instincts on both ends too.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
