The Alabama Class of 2028 continues to establish itself as arguably the deepest and most talented class in the state. The combination of high-level guards, versatile wings, athletic forwards, and emerging prospects gives this group tremendous upside as they prepare to enter the 2026-27 high school season. Here are several players who continue to separate themselves and are names every coach and college program should keep on their radar.

[player_tooltip player_id='2194649' first='Dakota' last='Moncus'] (5'10/PG/2028/Decatur)

IG: Kotamoncus0

X: @KotaMoncus

Dakota has firmly established himself as one of the premier point guards in the 2028 class because of his rare combination of scoring ability, floor leadership, and winning intangibles. He possesses an advanced feel for the game that allows him to consistently make the correct reads and decisions with the ball in his hands. His PG IQ is one of his biggest strengths, and he has an excellent understanding of when to score and when to create opportunities for others. Offensively, he is a three-level scorer who can knock down perimeter jumpers, create separation off the dribble, and finish through traffic at the rim. He plays with outstanding pace, never appears rushed, and has a knack for controlling the flow of the game.

[player_tooltip player_id='2748313' first='Johnivon' last='Williams'] (6'4/Wing/2028/Bessemer City)

Johnivon is one of the state's most intriguing young wings because of his athleticism, positional size, and rapidly developing basketball IQ. His physical tools immediately stand out, but what continues to impress is how quickly his understanding of the game continues to evolve. He plays with energy on both ends of the floor and has become increasingly confident in his ability to impact games offensively. Whether attacking downhill, finishing at the rim, or creating opportunities in transition, he has become a difficult matchup because of his versatility.

[player_tooltip player_id='3677195' first='Zach' last='King'] (6'3/PG/2028/Bob Jones)

Zach has taken significant strides throughout the spring and summer and continues to develop into an emerging lead guard in the state. He has positional size for the PG spot and does a good job creating advantages against opposing defenders. He scores from all three levels, handles defensive pressure with confidence, and has become much more comfortable directing an offense.

[player_tooltip player_id='2892671' first='Malachi' last='Jones'] (6'3/CG/2028/Oakwood Adventist)

Malachi brings toughness, athleticism, and leadership every time he steps on the floor. His physical style of play immediately stands out as he embraces contact and competes with relentless energy on both ends.

Offensively, he thrives as an off-ball scorer who knows how to move without the ball, find open space, and capitalize on scoring opportunities. Once he finds his rhythm, he has proven capable of putting together scoring bursts that can quickly change the momentum of a game.

[player_tooltip player_id='2748549' first='Dayton' last='Epps'] (5'10/PG/2028/Hazel Green)

Dayton continues to emerge as one of Alabama's rising PGs. He is athletic and combines speed, quickness, and change of pace to consistently create advantages with the rock. His floor game has taken noticeable steps forward over the past several months as he has become increasingly comfortable controlling tempo, organizing the offense, and making quality decisions in ball-screen situations. He consistently keeps defenders off balance with his ability to attack the paint while also creating opportunities for teammates. His leadership continues to grow, and he has shown he possesses the qualities necessary to successfully run any team entrusted to him.

Collin Pennington (6'5/G/2028/JCA)

Collin is a highly intriguing prospect whose combination of size, athleticism, and perimeter shooting immediately catches your attention. He is developing into one of the better shooters in the class, displaying outstanding range and confidence from beyond the arc. Perhaps even more impressive is the work he has put into expanding the rest of his offensive game. His ball-handling has improved significantly, allowing him to attack closeouts and create off the bounce, while his continued development in the post has added another dimension to his offensive arsenal. Defensively, his length, athleticism, and versatility allow him to impact multiple positions, while his aggressive approach helps him make plays around the rim.
