The UA Future Regional in Brighton, Michigan was loaded with talent, but the guard play consistently stood out every time you looked across the floor.

Not just scoring either.

I'm talking about pace control, decision-making, leadership, toughness, and the ability to actually run a team. The type of traits that separate true point guards from players who simply handle the ball.

Here are six lead guards who consistently stood out throughout the weekend.

Alvin Wilson | Team Tradition | 2030

Alvin Wilson plays with the pace and composure of a guard far beyond his age.

Every possession feels under control when he's running the offense. He never looks rushed, never forces the action, and consistently makes smart reads whether he's creating for himself or setting up teammates.

Wilson is comfortable scoring from all three levels. He knocks down perimeter shots confidently, attacks downhill effectively, and finishes through contact around the rim. But what really separates him is how calm the game looks in his hands.

At this stage of development, that level of control stands out immediately.

Cades Cody-Jackson | A3C Elite | 2031

Cades Cody-Jackson plays with confidence and aggression every time he steps on the floor.

He constantly pressures defenders off the dribble, attacks downhill fearlessly, and creates offense at all three levels. His pace changes and athletic burst make him difficult to contain once he gets momentum going toward the basket.

What also stood out was his willingness to compete on both ends. He stayed engaged defensively, embraced physical play, and consistently brought energy throughout the game.

There's real long-term upside here.

Kaeden Jones | A3C Elite | 2031

Kaeden Jones impacted the game everywhere.

The left-handed guard played with relentless energy, toughness, and nonstop defensive pressure throughout the weekend. He took matchups personally defensively and constantly disrupted opposing guards with physicality and effort.

Offensively, he attacked the rim aggressively, finished well going left, and confidently knocked down open perimeter shots when defenders backed off.

His production in Game 1 alone showed the level of impact he brings:
13 points, 11 assists, 8 rebounds, 5 steals, and just one turnover.

That kind of all-around performance is hard to ignore.

Dre Jones | Progeny | 2030

Dre Jones plays with a mature feel for the game that immediately stands out.

He consistently controls tempo, sees plays developing early, and keeps teammates organized offensively. Whether operating in transition or in the half-court, Jones plays with patience and purpose.

He understands angles extremely well, creates separation without wasting movement, and consistently makes winning decisions with the basketball.

Defensively, he stays disciplined, competes hard, and rarely puts himself out of position.

His overall poise as a lead guard was impressive throughout the event.

Abram Chester | Club1 Prime | 2031

Abram Chester may not have ideal size, but he consistently competed at a high level all weekend.

The left-handed guard controlled the offense effectively, especially in pick-and-roll situations where his court vision and decision-making stood out. He consistently created opportunities for teammates while also showing the ability to score from deep with confidence.

Chester's 28-point performance showcased his offensive upside as both a shooter and creator.

As he continues adding strength and improving as a finisher through contact, his ceiling continues to rise.

Trevor Weaver | Illinois Attack | 2032

Trevor Weaver plays with impressive pace and feel for a young guard.

He never looks sped up and consistently manipulates defenders with change of speed, patience, and strong ball-handling instincts. Weaver creates space naturally and does a good job recognizing when to score versus when to facilitate.

He also showed confidence from the perimeter throughout the weekend and stayed composed regardless of the moment.

That ability to stay under control while still creating offense is a trait that translates well long-term.

Closing

What stood out most about this group was how differently each guard impacted the game.

Some controlled tempo. Some brought scoring pressure. Others relied on toughness, energy, and defensive activity.

But the common denominator was simple:

They all influenced winning possessions consistently.

And at an event loaded with talent, that's what separates good guards from point guards you continue tracking moving forward.
