Summer Watch: SWFL Big Men, Second Five

Summer is in full swing and tournaments are being held each and every weekend, from independent programs to circuit teams, games and opportunities are at a high this time of year. Let's take a closer look at some of the big men from SWFL who will be lacing them up this summer in hopes of improving their game and seeing their stock rise.    A big, strong, physical player, Edeoga, is a high-level prospect with major upside. The 6'7" PF is an extremely hard worker both on and off the court, and is always pushing himself to be a better player and person. He is a force in the paint, where he uses his wide frame to his advantage, and is an outstanding rebounder on both ends of the floor. He can finish through contact with either hand, and also has a nice touch from the free-throw line. Edeoga should be on every coaches radar as he continues to mature and fine tune his game.     Bronson continues to improve each and every time he steps on the court. He is a huge presence in the paint with his size and shot blocking ability, and has an excellent basketball IQ, where just plays the game right. The 6'8" center is very effective in the post and scoring down low, but also has a nice soft touch from outside, where he is very efficient from behind the arc. Bronson sees the court extremely well, and is an excellent passer from the post. Keep an eye on this prospect throughout the summer and as he heads into his senior year.     The rising sophomore, Fletcher, put together one heck of a freshman campaign for the Vikings. He led Verot in points and rebounds on the season, where he averaged 12.5 ppg and 7.8 rpg, to go along with just under 2 blocks per game. As you can see he is an excellent 2-way player who effects the game in a number of ways. He has great size and uses his strength to his advantage, where he likes to beat you in the post and finish through contact. Fletcher has great athleticism and is a tremendous rebounder on both ends of the court.     Chandler was a do-it-all guy for Cypress Lake this past season, where he nearly averaged a double-double on the year with 14.5 ppg and 8.5 rpg. He has good size and length, and positions himself well on the floor both offensively and defensively. He has the ability to guard multiple positions on defense, and also rebounds the ball very well. He is very effective down low around the basket, but also has a solid mid-range to go along with that.     A dual-sport athlete, Soerens, has become a key piece for the Wildcats and their success. The 6'4" PF shows good athleticism which allows him to guard multiple positions on defense. He is a smart player who rebounds the ball well on both ends of the court. Soerens is solid in the post, but has the ability to stretch out the defense with his above-average 3-point shooting. Look for Soerens to have a big junior year as he continues mature and develop his game.
