Recruiting: 2026 Cimarron G commits to Oklahoma Panhandle State

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The controversial decision by the New Mexico Highlands University administration to fire head basketball coach Zach Settembre despite NMHU's highly successful 2025-26 season has had recruiting repercussions.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Dynamic 2026 Cimarron guard <strong>Urijah Martinez</strong> had been committed to NMHU, but announced on May 7 that he was reopening his recruiting due to the ‘recent coaching changes at Highlands University.'</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Martinez didn't stay uncommitted for long.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>He announced Friday his commitment to Oklahoma Panhandle State University in Goodwell, Okla. OPSU finished 6-21 in 2025-26 under head coach Charles Belt, who just wrapped up his third season with the Aggies.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>This past season, Martinez led Cimarron to an impressive 24-5 record and an appearance in the Class 1A semifinals, where the Rams fell to eventual champion Fort Sumner/House. &nbsp;</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Martinez averaged over 20 points per game for Cimarron. He scored a career high 42 points against Springer in late January. Wilson plays for TruNM on the summer AAU circuit. In a game earlier today, Wilkson scored 15 points, grabbed 5 rebounds and had 3 steals.
