MYT "Indiana Super Regional" Top Performers 13-14u

Every player on this list showed how their skills translated to the basketball court Saturday afternoon.    Major is a shifty guard who has a knack for making big shots. He's an excellent ball handler who easily beats defenders off the dribble. Whether it was attacking the paint, knocking down threes or scoring in transition, Major was a serious force to be reckoned with. There were moments in the game when he attacked the basket and scored through contact. Both drives were tough lay-ups that led to three-point play opportunities from the foul-line. He's a great play-making guard who has the ability to be effective as a scorer or facilitator. Major is an above average passer who found his teammates in scoring positions throughout the game. His assists led to positive outcomes a majority of the time. When B2E White had the opportunity to score transition points, he always finished strong. On defense, Major pressured opposing guards into mistakes and turnovers. In my opinion, he's a promising young guard who has the skills to become elite in the near future.      Myles is a good all around player who was effective in every facet of the game. He beat opponents off the dribble, scored on tough drives to the basket, knocked down short perimeter jumpers and showed the ability to make threes. In some instances, Myles was able to score multiple points in transition after he forced B2E White guards into turnovers. His quick hands and great on-ball defense allowed him to finish the game with four steals. Myles was one of the best rebounding guards on the court. He didn't mind battling the opposition on the glass. Some of his boards led to second chance scoring opportunities for himself or others. Myles is a hardworking player who gives maximum effort on both ends of the court. He's an excellent combo guard who has the opportunity to be a great two-way player of the future.     The last time I watched Jagger play was as a 6th grader. At that time he was a scorer and facilitator. Well, he continues to be a great shot maker. Jagger has grown a couple inches since I last saw him. The size increase makes him even more of a scoring threat. His biggest strength has always been his shooting. In the match-up against Blue Chip, he finished the game with five three-pointers. When Jagger had an opportunity to beat defenders off the dribble, he did with no hesitation. This led to multiple scores in the paint. Jagger has become flashy with his assists. He threw great bounce passes to his teammates near the basket. I truly enjoyed watching this young man play. His skills as a shooter are elite for his age. Imagine how good Jagger will become as he continues to grow and mature? I look forward to keeping track of his progression in the coming years.     This young man is a scorer! Every time the ball was in his hands, Brendan scored. He literally missed three out of the twelve shots he took. He's the type of player who scores in a variety of ways. Whether it was attacking the basket, scoring from mid-range, knocking down threes or scoring in transition, Brendan was an unstoppable force Saturday afternoon. He effectively scores from every area on the floor. Brendan demonstrated this ability throughout the game. He's a hardworking player who did all the intangibles needed to help Blue Chip win. Brendan rebounded, made timely assists and defended opponents using quick hands and great footwork. This led to numerous steals and transition points for himself and other teammates. The sky's the limit for this young man. I expect big things from Brendan in the coming years.     I love watching the smallest players who make the biggest difference for their teams. Malakiy is a tough little guard who showed the ability of a true “floor leader” Saturday afternoon. He's a great ball handler and facilitator who always found teammates with pin-point passes. The majority of his assists led to positive outcomes for the Blue Chip team. Malakiy showed the ability to get into the paint and make plays. He was great at drawing in defenders and throwing assists to open players around the basket. Malakiy can also knock down three-pointers. Whenever he had open looks, Malakiy didn't hesitate to take them. I was thoroughly impressed by his leadership skills. He stayed in constant communication with his teammates on both ends of the court. In my opinion, Malakiy has all the traits of a great point guard. I look forward to keeping track of his progression in the years to come. Keep it up Malakyi!!
