The 2026-27 season promises to be another exciting campaign in New Mexico. While the start of the season is still 5-1/2 months away, it's never too early to identify some of the top players. Here are four of the top distributors you need to know heading into the new year:

[player_tooltip player_id='2714567' first='Isaiah' last='Brown'], Sandia: Is Brown the best all-around player in New Mexico? He could be. The sensational rising junior dished out an average of 6.5 assists per game in 2025-26 in addition to averaging 15 points, 6 rebounds and 6 steals per game. Already holds multiple college offers.

[player_tooltip player_id='2714614' first='Urijah' last='Griego'], Questa: Griego put together an impressive 2025-26 season for Questa as a sophomore, though few noticed since the Wildcats struggled to win games. But Griego was outstanding both scoring (12.2 ppg) and distributing (4.5 apg). Emerging as one of the top players in Northern New Mexico.

[player_tooltip player_id='2833891' first='Jordan' last='Holland'], Fort Sumner/House: In addition to being one of the top returning scorers in the state, Holland is THE No. 1 distributor returning next season. Holland averaged 10.6 assists per game in 2025-26 and compiled an impressive assists-to-turnover ratio of 5.79. He tallied 31 points and 9 assists in the state championship game, so he had a hand in nearly every Fort Sumner/House basket. The Foxes will be heavy favorites to repeat as Class 1A champions.

Deon Session, Atrisco Heritage: Another player who does it all. Session averaged 4.3 assists per game in 2025-26, but he also scores (13.5 ppg), rebounds (9.3) and plays defense (2.5 steals per game). Definitely one of the most underrated players in the Albuquerque Metro Region. Assists-to-turnover ration was 2.56 last season.
