College Commitment – Easton Hermann (2026 Newport)
After a strong senior season at Newport, Easton Hermann could have continued his playing career in-state in Oregon. But the all-around guard from Newport will be heading out of state instead. After making a trip to Buenva Vista University in Iowa, Hermann decided the right fit for him to start off in college was to pursue his athletic and academic pursuits as a Beaver.
"The facilities really stood out to me as well the gym and their new weight room were really nice," Hermann said. "The campus felt really welcoming and I liked the size of the campus everything is pretty close to each other and the class sizes aren't that large so I feel like I can have good connections with my professors."
Hermann, who also held a roster spot offer from Pacific in Forest Grove, was simply sold during his visit to the Buena Vista campus. In addition to the locale and academic fit, he really like the fit for him on the court.
"I liked the program a lot due to the way they like to play the game with a fast pace pushing the ball and using lots of ball screens," Hermann said. "My role will be to play the point guard and I want to improve on my play making, being able to handle the ball, and have a quick catch and shoot because I feel like those are the aspects you need to be a good point guard along with communication with your team."
The commitments completes a high school journey that saw Hermann earn 4A Second Team All-State honors after averaging 22 points, 3 rebounds, and 4 assists per game. There's no question there will be much that he remembers. "I will miss the bus rides and the overnight tournaments," Hermann said. "And with memories, I would have to say is winning a league title and all the good times with my teammates."
Our congratulations go out to Hermann and his family on his commitment.
