<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Next season's sobering reality for the rest of Class 1A is reigning champion Fort Sumner/House (26-5) returns 13 of the 14 players on the 2025-26 roster. The lone graduating senior averaged less than one point per game.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The Foxes will arguably have three of the top players in Class 1A when the 2026-27 season begins in late November: State Championship Game MVP <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2833891' first='Jordan' last='Holland']</strong>, 6-foot-4 First Team All-State guard <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='2833898' first='Tra'von' last='Bonds']</strong> and 6-foot-5, 235-pound forward <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='3573873' first='Aaron' last='Torres']</strong>.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Torres has been offered by the New Mexico Lobos and NM Highlands in football.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Add one of the top scoring freshmen in Class 1A – 2029 guard <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='3589325' first='D'gin' last='Thomson']</strong> – into the mix as well for a potent quartet. The 6-foot-3 Thomson averaged 10.1 points and was one of FOUR Fort Sumner/House players to average in double figures last season. He was the second-leading freshman scorer in 1A last season.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Technically, Bonds finished last season as Fort Sumner's leading scorer (17.5 ppg) but House stole the show in the state title game at the Pit in Albuquerque. He scored a game-high 31 points, buried four 3-pointers, dished out five assists and grabbed five rebounds in the 66-63 victory over Logan, which had entered the 2025-26 campaign as heavy favorites to repeat as Class 1A champions.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Holland and Bonds combined for 52 points (9-13 FT), 11 rebounds and 7 assists in the title game win over Logan. You can probably expect plenty of similar stat lines next season</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>For the past two seasons, Fort Sumner/House and Logan were fierce district rivals, trading blows back and forth. However, that won't be the case for the 2026-27 and 2027-28 seasons. The Foxes have been placed in District 1A-4 with Clovis Christian, Dora, Elida and Floyd.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Here's the No. 1 question in Class 1A for the 2026-27 season: Can anybody dethrone Fort Sumner/House? With all the talent the Foxes return, it will prove to be exceptionally difficult.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:html --> <blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">State Championship Win<br>31 Points<br>9 Assists<br>6 Rebounds<a href="https://twitter.com/PrepHoops_NM?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">@PrepHoops_NM</a> <a href="https://twitter.com/CoachVo11?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">@CoachVo11</a> ⁦<a href="https://twitter.com/ZachSettembre?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">@ZachSettembre</a>⁩ <a href="https://twitter.com/noahbreit1?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">@noahbreit1</a> <a href="https://twitter.com/coachtombrown?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">@coachtombrown</a> ⁦<a href="https://twitter.com/CoachJHoot?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">@CoachJHoot</a>⁩ <a href="https://twitter.com/CoachArf?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">@CoachArf</a> ⁦<a href="https://twitter.com/_CamParker?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">@_CamParker</a>⁩ ⁦<a href="https://twitter.com/KennyTripp?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">@KennyTripp</a>⁩ <a href="https://twitter.com/Atexa21?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">@Atexa21</a> <a href="https://twitter.com/Coach_JHanson?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">@Coach_JHanson</a> ⁦<a href="https://twitter.com/CoachEricOlen?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">@CoachEricOlen</a>⁩ <a href="https://twitter.com/RussellGurule?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">@RussellGurule</a> <a href="https://twitter.com/CoachDuncan323?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">@CoachDuncan323</a> <a href="https://t.co/owwYKGbK9l">pic.twitter.com/owwYKGbK9l</a></p>&mdash; [player_tooltip player_id='2833891' first='Jordan' last='Holland'] (@JordanHoll23) <a href="https://twitter.com/JordanHoll23/status/2037348147887001786?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">March 27, 2026</a></blockquote> <!-- /wp:html --> <!-- wp:html --> <blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">State Semi-Finals<br>18 Points<br>10 Assists<br>7 Rebounds<br>@Prep_HoopsNM <a href="https://twitter.com/CoachVo11?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">@CoachVo11</a> ⁦<a href="https://twitter.com/ZachSettembre?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">@ZachSettembre</a>⁩ <a href="https://twitter.com/noahbreit1?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">@noahbreit1</a> <a href="https://twitter.com/coachtombrown?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">@coachtombrown</a> <a href="https://twitter.com/CoachJHoot?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">@CoachJHoot</a> <a href="https://twitter.com/CoachArf?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">@CoachArf</a> <a href="https://twitter.com/_CamParker?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">@_CamParker</a> ⁦<a href="https://twitter.com/KennyTripp?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">@KennyTripp</a>⁩ <a href="https://twitter.com/Atexa21?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">@Atexa21</a> ⁦<a href="https://twitter.com/Coach_JHanson?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">@Coach_JHanson</a>⁩ ⁦<a href="https://twitter.com/CoachEricOlen?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">@CoachEricOlen</a>⁩ <a href="https://twitter.com/RussellGurule?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">@RussellGurule</a> <a href="https://twitter.com/CoachDuncan323?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">@CoachDuncan323</a> <a href="https://t.co/IX67Qr9Eq3">pic.twitter.com/IX67Qr9Eq3</a></p>&mdash; [player_tooltip player_id='2833891' first='Jordan' last='Holland'] (@JordanHoll23) <a href="https://twitter.com/JordanHoll23/status/2036272796846653604?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">March 24, 2026</a></blockquote> <!-- /wp:html --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p> </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:html --> <blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Me and the Boys won State Basketball! <a href="https://twitter.com/coachjmacarthur?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">@coachjmacarthur</a> <a href="https://twitter.com/CoachGrigs619?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">@CoachGrigs619</a> <a href="https://twitter.com/CoachBakerP?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">@CoachBakerP</a> <a href="https://twitter.com/coachnickgould?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">@coachnickgould</a> <a href="https://twitter.com/PrepRedzoneNM?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">@PrepRedzoneNM</a> <a href="https://twitter.com/CoachIosefa?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">@CoachIosefa</a> <a href="https://t.co/rvBpgRJwhS">pic.twitter.com/rvBpgRJwhS</a></p>&mdash; [player_tooltip player_id='3573873' first='Aaron' last='Torres'] (@Torres52Aaron) <a href="https://twitter.com/Torres52Aaron/status/2033048760566370566?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">March 15, 2026</a></blockquote> <!-- /wp:html -->
