I attended the annual Prep Hoops AZ Bash in the Desert at the Phhacility in Phx May 1-3. I viewed nearly every team in the 17U division and came up with nine all-17U Teams.

Here is the 6th team

[player_tooltip player_id='2295695' first='Matt' last='Crowder'] Casteel ([program_tooltip program_id='2076648' first='Peak' last='Basketball'] 17 Rise)

A two-way bigger guard can play a couple positions and has plus length to contain his opponents. He will score with threes off the catch or pull and score it with downhill takes. He rebounds the ball well and will make smart reads on the court. He is in line for a big year this season.

[player_tooltip player_id='2432281' first='Preston' last='Friend'] Highland (East Valley Select 17)

A combo guard who plays on or off the ball. He is a catch and shoot gunner from the three point line. He has quicker feet and hands to rip some pockets and finish thru the contact. He will also score with give and go's and plays from the neck up.

[player_tooltip player_id='2291971' first='Jackson' last='Gillard'] Campo Verde (BC Hoops 17) (Pictured)

A decent sized combo guard can collect steals and is very active on the glass despite his position. He is very tough to defend and he is a fluid ball handler. He scores it with downhill quick takes with a nice burst of speed, threes off the catch or pull and is due for a breakout season.

[player_tooltip player_id='3588606' first='Makoi' last='Makoi'] Canyon View (UH Elite 17 Gold)

A long post player with plus size. He moves fluidly from end to end and he seems to get a little better in every showing. He will score with tip dunks, offensive rebound put backs, hook shots getting to his right hand and he will gobble up balls in his area.

Colton Peterson PF 6'5 Douglas/WY (Morgan Dawgs Elite 17)

A strong framed power forward was one of the better rebounders with his broad shoulders and good size. He gets great positioning and uses his girth and strength. He will score with offensive rebound put backs, rip thrus and earns trips to the free throw line.

[player_tooltip player_id='2513390' first='Barron' last='Rygiel'] Boulder Creek (UH Elite 17 Blue)

A long and leaner power forward with a nice touch. He moves well from end to end and will score with rip thrus, get to the free throw line, runs the floor, fade away from mid-range and hit the three with confidence. He shows a motor to close out and block the shots in and out of his area.

Grant Simpson PG 5'4 2027 TBD/CO (Morgan Dawgs Elite 17)

An undersized point guard has the ball on a string and comes with some serious speed. He controls the heavy ball pressure and makes smart reads with the ball in his hands. He scores with deep threes off the catch and will score with blow by layups with either hand.

[player_tooltip player_id='2292815' first='Jamar'e' last='Stoudemire'] NFL Yet (AZ Legacy 17 3SGB)

A power forward is just scratching the surface. He will score with hook shots, dunks all around the basket and mid-range fall aways. He will block shots, rebounds the ball at a nice clip and run the floor. He should breakout in 2A next season.
