2027 Rankings Update: Class 1A Newcomer Guards

A sharpshooting off-ball guard, Kies was a key piece for a Nikes team that reached the 1A semifinals in March. He buried 55 3-pointers at a 40.1% clip as a junior en route to averaging 10.7 points, 2.8 rebounds, an d 2.0 assists per game. He's a capable secondary ball-handler and playmaker who figures to have the ball in his hands much more as a senior following the graduation of star guard Shay Stephens.     Pottebaum isn't a big scorer, averaging 5.4 points per game for the Comets as a junior, but he's a tough, athletic guard who impacts the game in a major way on both ends of the floor. He sees the floor well and is a talented passer who posted a 2.03 assist-to-turnover ratio last season.     Bellcock is a 6-0 guard who loves to put pressure on opposing defenses with his ability to attack off the dribble, both in the halfcourt and in transition. He averaged 10.9 points and 3.6 rebounds per game for the Mustangs in his junior year.     A combo guard who can play with or without the ball in his hands, Lewis averaged 8.3 points, 3.1 rebounds, 2.8 assists, and 1.1 steals per game for the Crusaders as a junior, shooting nearly 36% from the 3-point line and posting a 2.09 assist-to-turnover ratio.     Morris is small, listed at 5-9, but he's quick and he does a great job using his speed to his advantage on both ends of the floor. He puts constant pressure on opposing players with his ability to attack off the dribble as well as defend on the ball with his speed. He averaged 7.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, 1.9 assists, and 2.3 steals per game as a junior.     A stat-sheet stuffing guard, Waigand averaged 13.3 points, 3.0 rebounds, 4.9 assists, and 2.4 steals per game for the Eagles, leading the team in scoring, assists, and steals. He's capable of scoring from all three levels, posting 40-38-55 shooting splits.     A quick guard who attacks the rim consistently, McCulloch is a volume scorer who averaged 13.3 points per game for the Warriors as a junior. His speed is an asset on the defensive end as well, averaging 1.7 steals.     Hansen is a skilled guard who can play with or without the ball in his hands, averaging a team-high 13.2 points per game to go with 2.9 assists. He can score at the rim or from distance, and is a good playmaker who takes care of the ball.     Walter is a tough, athletic guard who stuffs the stat sheet for the Plainsmen, averaging 13.1 points, 5.0 rebounds, 2.2 assists, and 2.7 steals per game as a junior. He uses his physicality to his advantage in the backcourt, bullying his way to the rim.     Egli led the Wolves in scoring (13.1) and assists (3.7) per game, and he's also competitive both on the glass (3.1) and defensive end (2.5 steals). He's a good athlete with some size and length on the perimeter.     Stecher led the Wildcats in scoring (12.7) as a junior, showing that he can get to the rim off the dribble or knock down shots off the catch. He's a key part of a solid 2027 class at Central City, a program that appears to be trending upward.     A small, quick, athletic guard, Bonner competes hard on the glass on both ends of the floor, averaging 4.2 rebounds to go with 12.5 points and 2.5 assists per game. He shoots it well from the 3-point line, is nearly automatic at the charity stripe, and is a solid on-ball defender.     Fenner knocked down 41 3-pointers as a junior, second on the Bulldogs, at a nearly 32% clip. He's a capable three-level scorer and solid secondary playmaker who averaged 9.4 points, 3.6 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and 1.8 steals per game. He's part of a solid 2027 class at Riverside.
