Prep Hoops takes a look at some of the top perimeter shooters in the 15U Division that we saw at this weekend's Jayhawk Jam in Lawrence, KS. I saw some very impressive 3-point shooting from these young players.

Nathan McKnight (Kansas Rebels): The 6'0" guard from Maize High (KS) went on an impressive heater in the final game of the evening on Saturday. His team was trailing by 21 points in the second half, then sparked a rally by hitting four consecutive 3-pointers to cut the lead to single digits. He was wide open on the first two shots, but the next two, he had a defender in his face and he still hit a pair of high-arching 3-pointers. He ended up with a total of six triples in the game.

******

[player_tooltip player_id='3574769' first='Reid' last='Thompson'] ([program_tooltip program_id='3560763' first='Kansas' last='City Basketball Academy'] 2): A 6'4" forward from Barstow played the role of the Stretch 4 very well. The young lefty hit a trio of triples in the first game on Sunday morning that I watched. He knocked down a pair of Corner 3-pointers, then he hit another one from the wing off the pick and pop. He's long and lean and he is also a solid ball handler.

*******

Jett Rush (Magic 2029): A 6'2" guard from Colby (KS) who knocked down three 3-pointers in his team's victory on Sunday morning. He has a nice shooting stroke off the catch. When teams adjusted to his shooting, he started attacking close outs and created some nice plays for himself and his teammates off the dribble. His feel for the game was very good as he took what the defense gave him.

++++++

Cole Schneider (Team Together): We talked about this 2030 point guard as one of the more talented players in the 15U division, despite playing up a level. He was also one of the top perimeter shooters in the building. He has extended range and he did a good job of either coming off screens shot ready or creating his own shot off the dribble.

*******

Travis Cameron (Tulsa Basketball Academy): A 5'10" guard from Owasso who can shoot it well from long distance. He was shooting it off the catch or he was also setting up defenders with the jab step to back them up before raising up to hit the triple. I like how he was very patient when he made his moves off the dribble. Nothing was rushed and he still got where he wanted to go on the floor.

******

[player_tooltip player_id='2831189' first='Alex' last='Oehlert'] ([program_tooltip program_id='3560763' first='Kansas' last='City Basketball Academy'] 1): The 6'4" forward from Lee's Summit West was one of the top frontcourt shooters that I watched during the weekend. In the game I watched on Saturday, he knocked down four 3-pointers, with most of them coming off the pick and pop. On Sunday, he hit a big 3-pointer in the closing seconds to tie a game that his team eventually won. He is a good athlete with a very confident shooting stroke off the catch.
