Recruiting: 2027 ABQ Academy Standout Offered By ASun Champions

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>2027 Albuquerque Academy combo guard <strong>Zac Borrego</strong> is beginning to stack offers.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>His latest Division I offer came from Queens College in Charlotte, NC during an unofficial visit. Queens is a member of the Atlantic Sun Conference and&nbsp; is close to completing a four-year transition from Division II to Division I.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Borrego is, of course, familiar with the Charlotte area since he lived there for several years when his father, James Borrego, was the head coach of the Charlotte Hornets. His dad served as interim head coach of the New Orleans Pelicans during the 2025-26 season.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>In a social media post, Borrego described Queens, the defending ASUN champions, as ‘a team and program on the rise.'</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Borrego has also been offered by Southern Utah (WAC), Northern Arizona (Big Sky) and Illinois-Chicago (Summit).</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The 6-foot-1 Borrego was Albuquerque Academy's leading scorer in 2025-26 and earned First Team All-District 4A-6 honors.
