As the season comes to a close, it is time to hand out a few postseason awards. Prep Hoops Missouri presents its annual Freshmen of the Year Awards for each class.

CLASS 1 - [player_tooltip player_id='2747261' first='Heath' last='Turner-Diaz'] (Columbia-Independent)

A 6'0" point guard who quickly emerged as one of the top young players in the Mid-Missouri area. In one of his first games in December, he scored 39 points in a victory. He finished the season averaging more than 20 points a game as he set a new season-scoring record for freshmen. In addition to being a top scorer, he is a creative ball handler who can also make his teams better with his passing.

******

CLASS 2 - [player_tooltip player_id='2900424' first='Hudson' last='Creekmore'] (Penney)

A 6'1" southpaw point guard who had an excellent debut season in helping Penney to a berth in the Final Four of the state tournament. He provided excellent ball handling and some consistent perimeter shooting to take the pressure off of 6'8" All-State forward [player_tooltip player_id='2090488' first='Jacob' last='Miller']. He made 70 3-pointers this season in shooting 34 percent from long distance. For the season, he averaged 14.6 points, 4.6 rebounds and 2.4 assists a game. He scored 21 points in a victory over Wellington-Napoleon in the sectionals.

[player_tooltip player_id='2951102' first='Wyatt' last='Brant'] (Crest Ridge)

A 6'2" guard who had big season in helping lead Crest Ridge to a 21-8 record and a district championship. He is a very athletic player who excels when he is slashing and attacking off the dribble. He played with excellent poise throughout the season in earning All I-70 Conference honors. He averaged 14.5 points and 3.7 rebounds while shooting 52 percent from the field.

******

CLASS 3 - Oliver Bohlmeyer (Centralia)

A 6'1" guard who played a big part in the Panthers winning 18 games and a district championship. He also had a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds in the sectionals against Dixon. He emerged as a started and provided excellent perimeter shooting throughout the season. He has a nice quick release on his 3-point shot and he also moved well and cut without the ball to get layups.

Cameren Nelson (Miller Career Academy)

A 5'9" guard who was an ace sixth man for the high-octane Phoenix team that advanced all the way to a berth in the state championship game. He understands the assignment when he enters the game. He comes in and he shoots the ball and he can shoot it well from 3-point range. He had several double figure scoring games down the stretch, including 14 points against Woodland in the quarterfinals and 14 points in the semifinals against North Platte.

******

CLASS 4 - [player_tooltip player_id='2767899' first='Bronx' last='Ganaway'] (Boonville)

The 6'8" small forward entered the high school ranks with a lot of fanfare as the No. 1 prospect in the class. He also had an offer from the University of Missouri during the summer. The skilled young talent came in and enjoyed a big freshman campaign, where he averaged 18 points and six rebounds a game. He is a matchup problem with his height and ability to score from all three levels. He had high games of 32 points against Marshall and 29 points against Southern Boone.

******

CLASS 5 - Michael Nhial (Winnetonka)

A slender 6'7" small forward who had a strong debut season for 'Tonka. He is a big matchup problem with his height and ability to score inside or on the perimeter. He can stretch the defense with his 3-point shooting and he can also put the ball on the floor to get a bucket. He averaged 12.1 points and 6.5 rebounds a game while shooting 37 percent from 3-point range. His upside is substantial as he is just starting to develop into a high-level prospect of the future.

******

CLASS 6 - [player_tooltip player_id='2887650' first='Stacy' last='Sorrell'] (CBC)

A 5'10" point guard who had a tremendous freshman season in helping to lead a very young Cadets squad to 16 wins. The young southpaw has excellent quickness and a high basketball IQ. He also emerged as a premier scorer this season as he averaged 18.2 points a game. He also shot it well as he made 56 percent of his field goal attempts. He also shot 46 percent from 3-point range one 66 made triples. He had high games of 32 points against Hazelwood Central and 33 points against Westminster.
