Week Three Rankings Update

After another eventful week around the state, it's time to update the rankings across all four classes. Below we detail some of the key movement in each class, and at the bottom of the article you'll find the updated top 10s in every class.
St. Edmond (5-0) continues to lead the way in Class 1A. The Gaels picked up their best win of the season to date on Saturday morning, beating defending champion Madrid at the inaugural Hardwood Classic at Iowa Central. The Gaels are followed again this week by Bishop Garrigan (5-1), Boyden-Hull (5-1), and Coon Rapids-Bayard (6-0), while Notre Dame, Burlington (8-0) enters the top five, moving up a pair of spots. Wapsie Valley (7-0) enters the rankings for the first time this season, holding a pair of impressive wins over 2A teams that have been in the rankings this season - Union and Denver.
In Class 2A, Kuemper Catholic (5-1) continues to hold down the top spot. The Knights picked up a really nice win over Dakota Valley (SD), a team that is usually one of the best teams in South Dakota, on Saturday afternoon, and they did so without standout guard

, out with an injury. The Knights are followed in the top five by Unity Christian (7-0), Treynor (7-0), Western Christian (4-1), and Regina (5-1). There are two newcomers in the 2A rankings this week, with Union (6-1) re-entering after a few weeks out of the rankings, coming in at #9, while Beckman Catholic (5-1) checks in at #10.
Clear Lake (4-0) continues to roll along and leads Class 3A, but there is significant movement behind them, with Ballard (6-0) jumping from #5 to #2 following a dominant win against then-#2 ADM (5-1). The Bombers were sensational defensively against one of the most potent offensive teams in the state, limiting the Tigers to just 33 points. ADM falls to #6 as a result of the loss. Nevada (5-0) and Center Point-Urbana (6-1) enter the rankings this week at #8 and #9, respectively.
Waukee Northwest (7-0) furthered their stranglehold on Class 4A with a dominant win over crosstown rival and then-#3 Waukee on Tuesday night. Then the Wolves cruised past Southeast Polk and went out west and dominated Sioux City East on Saturday. Dowling Catholic (7-0) moves up a spot after also beating Waukee last week, while the Warriors (5-2) fall to the #6 spot following their pair of losses. Pleasant Valley (5-1) becomes the third MAC team in the rankings this week, joining Muscatine (6-0) and Bettendorf (6-0), with the Spartans checking in at #10.
