CP3NMSC South (DFW) Superlatives: 6th Grade Defenders

Mansfield, TX — Part Three of our 6th-grade and class of 2032 coverage from the 2025 CP3 South Middle School Combine highlights the event's standout defenders. These young athletes consistently disrupted opponents, used their instincts to anticipate plays, and showed impressive awareness on both ends of the floor. Whether locking down ball-handlers, contesting shots, or making key rotations, they set the tone with energy and effort that made a tangible impact throughout the weekend. Their defensive presence was a defining factor in the flow of the combine.    Jayse Ferguson did a nice job defending some of the better guards in attendance at the 2025 CP3 South Middle School Combine. He consistently slowed down lead guards, scoring guards, and combo guards, making it difficult for them to get into any rhythm offensively. His discipline and focus on that end of the floor were major assets for his team. Beyond his defensive presence, Ferguson also showed smart decision-making when handling the ball, moving it efficiently to teammates and recognizing opportunities to push the pace.     Nehemiah Laphand did a strong job limiting whoever he was matched up with at the 2025 CP3 South Middle School Combine. He forced turnovers, disrupted actions, and consistently made it challenging for opponents to generate quality looks. His defensive intensity was felt throughout the weekend, as he stayed engaged on every possession and communicated effectively with teammates to help contain ball movement. .     Joey Lavergne was a true ball-stopper against opposing guards at the 2025 CP3 South Middle School Combine. He applied heavy pressure on the ball at all times, making it extremely difficult for opponents to create anything productive. His on-ball presence and high motor were seen throughout the combine, as he consistently challenged shots, stayed in passing lanes, and contested every dribble. Beyond his defense, Lavergne displayed solid court awareness, helping direct teammates and forcing opponents into tough decisions.     Ayden Miles showcased his ability to be a dependable defender at both the wing and forward spots throughout the 2025 CP3 South Middle School Combine. His versatility, length, and athleticism allowed him to match up with a variety of players, slowing down several teams' top wing options. He provided consistent value on the defensive end, using his anticipation and quickness to contest shots, disrupt passing lanes, and rotate effectively. Miles also demonstrated a high basketball IQ, communicating well with teammates and helping organize the floor to prevent easy opportunities.     Cruz Patricio used his speed and quickness to stay in front of some of the more skilled and explosive guards at the 2025 CP3 South Middle School Combine. His ability to force turnovers and immediately convert defense into offense gave his team a real edge throughout the event. His activity level was noticeable every time he stepped on the floor, as he consistently applied pressure, disrupted passing lanes, and challenged every possession.
