Two 4a powerhouses met Tuesday at Brentwood High School. A scrimmage, the contest showed the readiness of two potential State Tournament teams Brentwood and Hillsboro.
After one half BHS led,
11/11/25: Known elite shooter. Jackson is a bulldog defensively. The way to beat him is to shoot over him. Dribbling by the senior is not an option.
11/11/25: Mr.Basketball-candidate Davi s Cochran was terrific. He played better facing the basket than backing down. Cochran's agility is bizarre for a 6-foot-7 high school athlete. He is further along than Daniel athletically and his older brother was dominant. One struggle he had in the first quarter was knifing through defenses. The guards swatted at the ball and sprung it loose once. If Davis collcte

11/11/25: Brentwood's lead guard Hudson ran set play effectively. His quickness improved in the last six months. McKnight looks like a college guard now. He will need to bulk up surely. But the size and skills are wonderful for a senior guard. Hudson's best series occurred early in the third quarter. He blocked a shot in the lane and dribbled up with speed and composure only to bury a pull-up from 20' on the fly. Fewer than 10 guards in the state can do those things so smoothly.

11/11/25: Solid. Mathey controlled the tempo very well. His teammates relied upon him to initiate the offense. An undersized point guard, Luke needed to inject a little wiggle to break by defenders...and he did. Mathey did not force shots under the basket when defenses collapsed. Instead, he found his James Worthy (Cochran). Beyond their wonderful individual skill this team shows that unique comfort that veteran teams display.

is new to Brentwood High. That he played at all speaks highly of his earned reputation within the program. Based on this game it seems like Ezra will get a decent amount of varsity minutes off of the bench. This is fortunate for him as BHS is going to have an exceptional year. In this rotation the burden of scoring is not at all on him, so there is little pressure to finish buckets. Anything he gives is a bonus.
