They enter the season right around the back end of that top ten area with one of the elite players in all of Class AA basketball in Etahn Martin.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Blooming Prairie was a very good team at Class A basketball and now they move up to AA. They do so with [player_tooltip player_id='2126171' first='Gabe' last='Staloch'] returning along with two other players from last year's rotation. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>GSL has point producers. Busse and Sonju were 20ppg guys last season and they have a chance to do even more this year. But don't forget about the worker in senior [player_tooltip player_id='2847446' first='Dylan' last='Lofgren']. He is a very important piece to this team.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The team I think that could really blow by expectations and our ranking of fourth in the section is Lake Crystal-Wellcome-Memorial. They have four starters back and they return their top six scorers from last season. They have size, toughness, skill, and experience from an 18-win team.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='2417301' first='Hunter' last='Vinkemeier'] is one of the best players in this section. And he will have a good year but Le Sueur-Henderson does have a ton of talent to replace. Team wise it might take a bit for this team to find their comfort but towards the end of the season they could be quite competitive. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The Maple River junior group is entering their prime. They have played as freshmen and they helped the team win 17 games as sophomores. Now [player_tooltip player_id='2357544' first='Cole' last='Davis'], Avery Bergeman and [player_tooltip player_id='2411262' first='Tyler' last='Heins'] are quality juniors. Plus [player_tooltip player_id='2124218' first='Zach' last='Trio'] is a strong senior.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Kory Kettner takes over at Minnesota Valley Lutheran and his team looked pretty good this summer. There might be a bridge of learning but this team has some good young players - sophomore [player_tooltip player_id='2809791' first='Pierson' last='Brau'] looks to be a big part of their future - but most of the team returns from an 11-14 season.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Norwood-Young American might bruise you. They are strong up front in a tough guy football way, but Kyson Evenski is also a 16 point per game guy with nine boards a contest and he is a good passer. Evenski might be one of the best players in the senior class that we don't know enough about. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Waseca is interesting. They have the best player in Class AA basketball in [player_tooltip player_id='2121332' first='Deron' last='Russell']. A future NDSU football player that has a very bright football future, but this is a D1 basketball player too. In fact, there are some guys headed D1 from Minnesota that I think he could outplay. He has two returning rotation members from last year's second place in state team and there are some up and comers. There are questions on what the depth will be but there is no doubt Waseca will be good. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Did you know that [player_tooltip player_id='2381767' first='Talen' last='Taylor'] averaged 21 points and nine rebounds a game last year for WEM? He plays all over the place and helped WEM get to near .500 last year. Yet another very good player in this section. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
